Sorry, but Rooney would NEVER get into a team ahead of Shevchenko
And Beckham?
Zidane is still world class and I think he'd be awesome with Gerrard alongside him. Same with Cafu, he still outruns most of the right backs in the world. I'd struggle to name a right back who is better than Cafu, even now

well... i think injury is what is messin' up Sol Campbell's game... i like how he handle himself as a defender, he's world class material on a good day
and to be truthful... Zidane is my overall footballer... but lately, he ain't been the same since juventus! plus i believe he isn't fit mentally
and makalele - to me he is underrated... the kid got fight in him, great in the midfield

Have you seen beckham playing for Madrid this last seaon and back of end last season, a lot of the time he is there best player, with Zidane in the team, for years Zidane was the best but he is old and just not as good, still very good but not quite upto the standard of the current best. Cafu i havn't seen play that much lately but he is old now and last time i saw him for Brazil he didn't have the same energy, he was still a great defender but didn't get forward like he used to...
Rooney IMO is better than Shevchenko, he is the best player at Man U and he is Englands best player, even when the rest of the team is balls, Rooney will still play well and carry the team. Now he is matured he is very very good, i would defo pick Rooney.

Yeah, I've seen Beckham play for a team that hasn't won a trophy since he has been there. Hardly impressive saying that he is their best player at times, when collectively, they're all under achievers. Truth is, Beckham is the most over-rated player in worldwide football.
As for Cafu, you obviously don't watch him play. I'd like to know which match you last saw him in where he was off the pace because quite frankly, he has as much energy as a 17 year old, if not more. Have you not been watching AC Milan in the Champions League for the past few years? He has been immense, running up and down the right flank without so much as a heavy breath.
If you think Rooney is better than Shevchenko, you either:
a) Are a Man United fan
b) Don't watch Italian/European football
or c) an idiot
Most probably all 3
Anybody with half an ounce of footballing knowledge will tell you that Shevchenko is a better forward than Rooney. Why? Because he has adapted from shitty Ukranian league football to Serie A and International level, and is still regarded as one of the best players in the world. Think about how poor the youth academies must be in Ukraine, and how he must have had to adapt his style by himself in order to progress. When he was with Dinamo Kiev, he helped them progress to the quarter finals of the Champs League. These days, Dinamo Kiev are lucky to be mentioned in European football without someone referring to Shevchenko.
The main reason Shevchenko is a better forward than Rooney is that he scores more goals. In his first season in Serie A, after playing all his football in Ukraine, he was the top scorer with something like 28 goals. Ever since, he has got 20+ goals each season, even with injuries. He has a number of International goals, and is always up there with the top scorers in European competition. 9 goals this season in the Champs League. Rooney has achieved none of this. The only thing you can say about Wayne Rooney is that he has won the Worthington Cup and scored a couple of nice goals. Don't get me wrong, I think Rooney is a brilliant player. But when compared to Shevchenko, he isn't good enough to clean the dog shit from underneath his Lotto boots

Theres 2 premiership teams that i dislike, man United is one of them...
Yes Madrid underachieve but that is hardly Beckhams fault, he puts in the crosses and does the running, making goals, thing is they don't own a defence so the other team often score more goals than them...
Cafu, i rarely watch Italian football no, the last time i saw him play was for Brazil, i've not watched the last couple of Milans games and i'm basing my opinion on that Brazil game...
Yeh so Shevchenko had a harder route to the top, that doesn't automatically make him a better player though. Yes he scores more but Rooney does so much more than just score, Van Horseface scores more than Rooney, but which is better? Shevchenko is more similar to Nistelrooy than he is Rooney. I could play for AC Milan and have people make goals for me and stick them in the back of the net half the time he does...He is a very good player yes but i would rather have Rooney.
Tha' Devil 04-21-2006, 04:19 PM i love threads like these.... very interestin' readin' and perpective views
damn ya gotta thank me... yep!
-Saracen- 04-21-2006, 05:52 PM Nice Thread... and I would honestly have to agree with Kron's team, with Cannavaro (He didnt play that well against Arsenal but is an outstanding defender) instead of Puyol:
Henry...Shevchenko
Ronaldinho
Zidane...Gerrard...Kaka
A Cole...Cannavaro...Nesta...Cafu
..Dida..
I'm a Man Utd fan, but even I can admit that Shevchenko > Rooney. Yes, Rooney can and will take people on and will be more involved in a game, but as far as goal-scoring is concerned, Shevchenko is one of the best in the world. He's like Crespo in terms of how he finishes his chances and makes a half chance into a very good chance and scores these chances. You can never replace that part of a team. Players such as Eto'o and Rooney are very good, but you can't compare them to the likes of Sevchenko.
Another reason why I'd choose Shev ahead of Rooney would be because there are more players in the world, at the highest level, with the same abilities as him in all-round play. A perfect example would be Kaka, Zidane, Lampard, Messi, Deco, Requileme, etc. They're all technically good and offer the same options as Rooney would, but the likes of Deco and Zidane are much more experienced and would have a better chance of getting into a team. Who can you name that has the same goal-scoring ability as Shevchenko? I'd say Van Nistelrooy when hes on top of his form, Crespo, Adriano, Ronaldo back in the day. Not many...

Lol shut up Bigga is just an idiot so he doesn't know what he's doing, he just copied the front 6 from me basically because he knows i'm right and then he invented his own back 4 :(
I'm losing but i still stick to what i said before, so what you lot don't agree with me it was create your winning eleven not name an eleven to keep krono happy.

Of course not, but we should make a thread like that.....
"Bricktop" 04-22-2006, 10:18 AM wtf stam played right back for lazio and plays right with 3 at back for milan so im sure he could do it easily plus how can u say rio and terry are wank??? plus heinze is so strong at right back how can u not deny?
Scientologist 04-22-2006, 11:20 AM Terry is the best defender in the world, but apart from that

You clearly know nothing about AC Milan. The whole basis of their team is their back FOUR you dick. Maldini, Cafu, Stam & Nesta. When the fuck have they played in a 3 with Stam on the right?
And Heinze is a left back you idiot
Fucks sake, people like you give football "fans" a bad image
Support Man United by any chance?

Lucky French bastards, it was a foul !!

fuckouttahere.
"Bricktop" 04-22-2006, 02:00 PM im a lower league fan so go fuck yourself and i feel rio and terry are best centre backs around!!! and i feel ashley cole is just like another roberto carlos only good goin forward heinze is solid at the back and does his job well u'll see in the world cup if he makes it!!
HoBGoBLiN 04-24-2006, 08:46 AM FW Rooney & Shevchenko (Henry is better than both on his day, but Rooney does more for the team and Shevchenko is a more natural finisher, plus Henry is French and an Arsenal twat)
Id play Ronaldinho off the front two, with a midfield 3 of Gerrard as a box to box player Makalele playing the holding role and Beckham spraying the passes
Right Back, gotta be Lillian Thuram, Left either Carlos or Cole, centre Terry and either Puyol or Nesta
Keeper = Robinson or else Buffon, probably Robbo cos he's class and Im a yid :)
HoBGoBLiN 04-24-2006, 08:57 AM Yeah, I've seen Beckham play for a team that hasn't won a trophy since he has been there. Beckhams still a class player, I don't care what anybody says. As Pholl rightly said he's about the only consistent player Madrid have right now and there are times with England that he single handedly carries us through games. This is coming from somebody who used to hate Beckhams guts but I now realise what he brings to a team.
Rooney V Shevchenko is tough, Shevchenko is without doubt the more natural finisher, he's guaranteed to get you goals whereas Rooney is better all-round, you never see Shevchenko dropping deep to collect the ball, pulling defencive pairings apart creating room for others and still scoring a decent amount. Likewise Shevchenko doesn't have anywhere near the same fight as Rooney, when the heads go down Rooneys the kind of player who'll pick his team up by the scruff of the neck and make something happen, Shevchenko can't do that, he needs Milan to be playing well for him to be effective but Rooney can change a game on his own. I think the best measure of that is that Shev doesn't have anywhere near as polific a record for Ukraine as he does for Milan, even when Rooney was 17 and playing for Everton he produced dazzling displays and was often the best player on the field.
Personally, I'd have Rooney ahead of Shevchenko, and as I said in my team Id have them two paired up over Henry, just feel that them two would work better as a combination.

HoBGoBLiN 04-24-2006, 11:44 AM ^^^There's no substance to your midfield, Ronaldo Lampard and Kaka (especially Kaka) are all attack minded players, you'd have no midfield which is by far the most important are as the majority of the game is played there.
SixShot 04-24-2006, 12:37 PM Lampard can play any role....... Defensive or Attaking minded. Defensive Minded wouldnt get the best out of his attributes but he could still do an awesome job.
I have Fabregas and Makelele on the bench. I could always play that team attacking minded and once achieved the odd goal or six throw makelele or Cesc on and they would sure up for the win.
You would be nothing without substitutes ;)
HoBGoBLiN 04-24-2006, 12:42 PM Lampard has defensive abilities??? He keeps them well hidden then! Nah for me it's gotta be Stevie G in the centre, he's the best midfielder in teh World with no exceptions, Lampard is a poor mans Stevie. Ain't in the same class

HoBGoBLiN 04-26-2006, 12:02 PM ^^^I keep forgetting you're a City fan, Good win last night thanks to the mighty Darius, bout time your lot won a game havin a shit second half of the season
funk_M 04-26-2006, 12:11 PM Yep, we have been utter gash for a long long time. We got to 40pts a while back, and we just didn't get any points for 7 matches or something stupid like that. Its the midfield really, we need a decent defensive midfielder and a good creative midfielder. Hopefully some stupid bastards will come in with a high bid for barton so we can ship the twat and buy some good players. Everywhere else is alright (well, kind of), although we could do with a goalscorer.
HoBGoBLiN 04-26-2006, 12:16 PM Vassell and Cole looked a good partnership before Cole got injured, Im a fan of Vassell but sometimes his vision and decision making are awful. I quite like Barton as well but he's an ungrateful cunt for turning his back on the club after they'd given him the chance to shine at the highest level, I can't even see him getting many better offers than City cos lets face it he's no Lampard or Gerrard is he?
You need to get rid of James or storm the team bus with a machete and chop his hands off, the guys a fuckin liability. Havin said that though the number of top class he made against Spurs a few weeks ago was immense, just a shame he nearly gifted us a goal with his trademark blunder in the first half :(
funk_M 04-26-2006, 12:24 PM James is one of the best shot stoppers in the world, but he flaps at crosses and he is one of the worst decision makers.
cole and vassell worked well together on occasions, but then cole would go missing in a match. Hopefully Sam the Greek will be great for us.
Joey barton thinks he is amazing, but he's average. He had a really good run of games at the start of this season, but it doesn't make up for the trouble he's caused at the club. Plus, he can't pass for shit as shown in the west ham cup game when he took a corner that went on the floor to the edge of the box where there were 3 west ham players, no city players, and all our big lads were in the box including our defence!
HoBGoBLiN 04-26-2006, 12:30 PM ^^^He is a good shot stopper, but that doesn't nearly atone for the sheer amount of cringe-worthy mistakes he makes. And the cheeky fucker does nothing but smile after he does it, I'd bang my head against a glass dashed wall if James played for us. It's hard to fathom that he's the second best keeper in this country, shot stopping is about all he's good at
Yeah I remember that against West Ham when he wasted the corner, he does look impressive sometimes though but no doubt you watch City a lot more than me
funk_M 04-26-2006, 01:04 PM I am looking forward to one thing about City. Hopefully daniel sturridge will get his senior debut soon, if we can keep chelsea's russian mitts off of him. The kid's superb. I'm not sure if they still have video clips of him on the site, but have a look at the england under 18s on www.thefa.com.
"Bricktop" 04-26-2006, 05:07 PM oi fuckheads im such a retard for puttin stam at right back have a look at where he's playin 2nite i think you guys should suck dick and bow down to me!!!
HoBGoBLiN 04-27-2006, 05:10 AM ^^^Stams not a right back though. They put him out there because to have Cafu making bombing runs forward and leaving Ronaldinho completely unmarked in the final third of the field would be a semi-retarded half suicidal thing to do. Stam is a centre back, to choose him as your preferred right back out of all the players in the World, is indeed foolish my friend

"Bricktop" 04-27-2006, 01:18 PM look kron??? stam has played right back a lot milan always play that formation that they played last nite and u said i was an idiot i thought u watched italian football they play
Dida
stam nesta maldini
Cafu Pirlo gattuso seedorf/serghinio
Kaka
Shevchenko gilardinio
thats the team they seem to always play so stam could take up a right back position also he played right back most of his career at lazio
plus he cant be that bad at right back cos he sure did better than cafu did when he come on
Kronologik 04-27-2006, 08:35 PM 3 across the back rarely means that the 2 defenders either side of the centre back play as "full backs". It means they play right/left CENTRE defence. A right back usually gets up to support the midfield and attack, as well as do defensive duties. Stam doesn't do that. And Cafu does not play right wing, he plays right back, like he does for Brazil. Stam plays in the centre, but covers Cafu when he breaks forward. He doesn't start as a right back.
