Anybody seriously think we'll win the World Cup?

I think the team we've got is more than capable, but with the way we play, we'll be lucky to get past the second round considering our opponents

I agree. Can't wait til we get a decent manager in, and for fucks sake not Steve 'my team lost but i'll still smile like a twat' mcclaren. Good god i hate him. i'd rather have Scolari or O'neil, although Hiddink would have been first choice for me.

If our midfield actually works together, and we get performances out of stevie g and lampard that recreate their league form, then we should do well. Saying that, if we go ahead in a game (like we usually do) Sven has no idea what to do, he just lets the team get entrenched in their own penalty box.At least he's given crouch a go, because when we''ve been behind in the past, he has put on a team of midgets (usually including Owen 'how the fuck did i manage to get on the pitch' haregreaves) and played an aerial game. Now he can put on a player who is a target, but also will scare the shit out of defenders leaving opportunities for other players, like when we beat the Argies.

^^^Agree 100% with everything Funk M just said, especially the Owen Hargreaves part cos there are some mongoloids out there who actually think he deserves a place in our squad.

Good breakdown

It still pisses me off that he can get in the squad, but not as much as anyone mentioning Phil neville getting a call up. I mean 1 neville in the squad is bad enough, but to have both chuckle brothers there would show the rest of the world how shit, and ugly, english footballers can be.

^ Gary is alright... Phil is also good, he gets stuck in and does work hard throughout 90 minutes, but does give the ball away sometimes too cheaply.

Anyway, man for man, I think we've got the best squad there:

strikers such as Owen and Rooney and Bent, etc...
midfielders such as Cole, Beckham, Gerrard, Lampard, Carrick, etc...
defenders such as Carragher, Terry, Ferdinand, Cole, King, etc...
and Robinson in net with James as 2nd choice (can be awful at times and unbelievable at other times)

Basically, we have the right squad to win the cup, but not the right tactics.

Basically, we have the right squad to win the cup, but not the right tactics.

Thats it in a nutshell, when you've got players of the calibre we have who are outstanding week in week out for their club teams yet cannot play well together as a unit, you have to look at the manager. I personally feel Sven should have his face carved up by a frozen kiwi and preserved in varnish to be forever on display at the hall of shame alongside or even possibly further down than Graham Taylor. He doesn't get the best out of a team who's only major squad problem is which players to pick ahead of others, using negative tactics with a team full of great attacking players, I think we could match any team barr Brazil for attacking football but it seems Sven thinks one goal is always enough *cough@#Euro 2004 cough@#France*

If the team is allowed to play naturally we'll have a chance, if Sven starts arsing about with it (ie; giving a striker his debut at right mid) then we're fucked, basically
