PHOENIX -- Steve Nash will win his second straight NBA Most Valuable Player award, according to reports on several area newspapers.

The announcement may not come for two weeks, according to the Arizona Republic. But the paper, and others, report that the voting shows Nash edging LeBron James, Dirk Nowitzki, Chauncey Billups and Kobe Bryant for the MVP.

This season, Nash had career-highs in points (18.8 points per game), rebounds (4.2 per game), field goal percentage (51.2 percent) and free throw percentage (92.1 percent -- best in the league). He was also the league-leader in assists (10.5) and shot nearly 50 percent from three-point range.

The Suns are currently playing the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.

A year ago, Nash edged Shaquille O'Neal in what was the fourth-closest balloting in history.

Man idk bout Nash winnin again, he was sick last year and is still dirty, but wit three players averaging over 30 this year, i gotta say its beyond his reach. I would have given it to Kobe, but I can understand Nash. All his numbers are up except for a slight drop in assists.

Plus kobe takes way too many shots each game, and that gives his teamates less chances to score... Nash doesn't really deserve it in all honesty, and especially the way him and his team played tonight.....he had a load of turnovers...marion, diaw, and house played like crap. Kobe had a excellent game tonight...good shot selection and his team was involved........

I hate Kobe.....but he deserved it. The shots that he commonly makes are fucking HARD shots. The only thing you hate about Kobe is when he cant accept the fact that tonight isnt his night, but he wont stop shooting. He does have the abiltity to have a good all around game but sometimes chooses to focus mainly on scoring.....but others has near triple doubles in pts, assists and rbs.........I still hate that nigga tho'

last year there wasn't as much competition. i think this year he should not have got it. he is valueble but other players are more valueble to their team. i think it should have went to kobe lebron or dirk but prolly dirk just cuz his team was better. people got all awed by the fact that amare didn't play this season. that's why he won.
