Something that happened in my town just short of a year ago, it was in the local paper and may even have made it to the nationals but Im not sure, dunno what prompted me to post it now but here goes:
There's this Liverpool fan who for whatever reason is clinically depressed, seems to be responding well to treatment/medication and by all accounts seems to be pulling through the ordeal. Then comes the night of the Champions League Final, Liverpool V AC Milan. As the British people will know, Liverpool were 3-0 down by halftime, so Mr. Depression takes out a rope and hangs himself in his kitchen. In a cruel, cruel twist of fate and irony, the mans team goes on to score 3 second half goals to take the game into extra time and penalties, and amazingly Liverpool win the trophy on spot kicks.
You just couldn't script that, obviously there will never be concrete proof that it was the scoreline that prompted him to do it but you have to ask yourself; if he'd seen his team lift their first ever Champions League (as it is now) trophy, would he still have done it??? In a very dark and twisted way, the whole incident is almost laughable, but for the fact that a man died.
Just thought I'd share that
