lmao

have you heard recent busta my friend? Touch it? i've got a "leaked" copy of Big Bang... either hes got way too many collabs or (more likely) its just a mixtape of his latest collabs that is mislabelled... busta as he is now is not touching Joey. AT ALL.

booo to you

UM...

I'll Hurt You Vs 3 Sides To A Story
Touch It Vs Dumb Out

and dumb out and 3 sides to a story might not even be on tha final cd.... so how on earth are those beats better?

its a half assed storch beat against a full fledged, beautiful storch beat... and a swizz beat against... well it doesn't matter who its against - its a swizz beat and swizz has had his one good beat for tha year already

I'm feeling a couple things wrong with the way that I'm living
So come and walk with me, I just need a second opinion
I'll introduce you to my friends, I gotta see if you know this
If they loyal or if they all got an ulterior motive

VS

And as we started, got me ringing her bell (Uh huh)
When I come I be doin it and doin it well (Uh huh)
Then I beat up the coochie and be makin it swell
Tryin to hide the smell of the sex, spraying on the Chanel

We up to no good/ Where's your money = Dre at his best....There isn't a beat on either album that comes close to those

^^ yeah mate, but that songs a little old now... and thats 1 song/beat. 1 song/beat doesnt make an album... not to mention that busta hardly shines on it - its just a run of tha mill average song on an exceptional beat

Joey's album will drop a creamer on Busta's album

Joey's album = average beats / good lyrics

Busta's album = good beats / average lyrics

Still prefer busta's

If u base your opinion more on the beat than you're sayin a shit artist wit Dr. Dre, Scott Storch, and Timbaland beats is better than hot lyrics wit normal beats. R U serious? Words are definitely more important than the beats. BTW Imma cop that album as soon as released.

Some people prefer lyricism more than beats....well, i base mine on lyricism and sometimes on beats.

Oblivion

hes a producer, so focuses more on beats. He doesn't listen to Busta for good rapping, he would listen to Busta for tha production. Whereas most normal people would listen to Joey more as they listen to the rapper. You know... tha RAPPER on tha RAP cd...

i'd prolly go as far to say that my erogenous friend would rather listen to tha instrumental version of tha Big Bang than tha retail version of the Growth... and that tells you all you need to know!

Paul Robinson

Sad but true.....Joe Budden isn't good enough for me to listen to with average to crap beats.... Someone like nas on the other hand, IS.

A lot of people on here have agreed that they don't like joey, Hip-Hop is the perfect fusion of good music and a good rapper. I'm musically enclined of course i wont like a song 99% of the time if i has a shit beat that i could better, just like you are the other way round. It seems producers are the minority on this site.

Infact he is the only rapper i can listen to and not because of the beats. Joe Budden is good but he's not original in any way and never will be up there with the best of them.

Paul Robinson

Um, twat that's not a fair comparison you are saying:

Shit artist/amazing beat vs. Hot lyrics/normal beats

Anyway we all know the best is having someone like Royce over a hot beat i.e. Dre, Storch, PRIMO ;) , Neptunes....So i can't wait till Royce cops a squat on joey from cloud number 9.

Oblivion
06-03-2006, 08:47 AM
lmao at cloud number 9!!!!!

anyway... Joey had some sick beats on his debut! Plus, recent tracks that have 'leaked' have been over neptunes/storch beats!

Paul Robinson
06-03-2006, 08:49 AM
fair enough, that should help him elevate to possible success.

Oblivion

lol not rising to it mate! if you're favourite 'producer' doesn't even do tha instrumentals half tha time.. and if you're favourite rapper is a sell out who (although admittedly it'll be good to have em both on same label) became tha bitch of a man who he had a hugely publicised beef with.. then its cool!

Joey for life my friend!

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to ObLiViOn again.

.................:(

Paul Robinson

How can you prove that Dre. doesn't do his own stuff, really?? No one on this site has any idea. Do you/ 99% of people on here know what the process of Music productions involves??

Nas.....sellout......not really, he's a bit of both and his resumee shites absolutely, infinately and magically on Joe Buddens. Nas has proven himself in so many ways as his own man, on features, on mixtapes at beef, on his own label and now finally as part of one of Hip-Hop's biggest and most promising labels he may be the bitch, but you forget he owned Jay-z in the dissing dept.....Notice a pattern yet...

Nas had 5 mics before joe Budden opened his lispy gorge and spat lyrics too little too late for most people to care.

Fair enough, his album might be good but it wont make an impact like the greats before him. He shouldn't be compared to Nas as a rapper or Dre. as a producer. He should stick to mixtapes :(

I don't base my likes of artists on rumours and personal decisions, I base them on their work.

Speaking of beats and raps, would you prefer to listen to an acapella on its own or a beat, not to mention that Joey only got the publicity he did from 'pump it up' because the beat was so good, his rapping was average and at times inaudible

Oblivion
06-03-2006, 06:48 PM
mate... tha fact that dre often does nothing or only tha drums of tha actual beat is that, FACT. Read tha 2001 credits... or other ones too... Games 'Where I'm From'? FOCUS did that - check tha aftermath website for tha interview. Eves 'Let Me Blow Ya Mind'? Scott Storch - check his interview with MTV. Eminems 'Guilty Conscience'? A replayed interpolation of an old song, which i think he got sued for using without permission.
Mate, if i was a nameless user on RW i can understand that rumours/speculation thing.. but you know me and you know that i know a fair bit about rap... tha fact that tha only thing Dre EVER really does (musically... not questioning his considerable talent at tha administrative side of producing) is tha drums is well known... i mean - compare 2001 beats and that era to beats Dre 'did' after Mel-man, Scott Storch etc left tha Aftermath stable. If you say you don't notice a horrid decline in quality, you fibbing mate

As for Nas... well... Nas has had 12 years to make his impact. Joey has had 1 album.. that was 3 years ago. 1 album then nothing for 3 years... and STILL people are waiting on his new album like crazy! He has made a HUGE impact with a core number of fans, much like Nas did with Illmatic. No doubting Nas is a legend.. but he sold out horribly.. Jay Z owned him (my personal opinion) in a beef, stole his girl hahaha and Nas comes crawling to Def Jam and signs with someone he publicly said he hated and (prolly) threatened... i am just shocked. If it was D4L or even 50 Cent - rappers that are really there for sales and commercialism, then no big deal. But a rapper that bases himself and his image on being real? Eeek! shocker!

i too base artists on there work, mate. Dre... well he doesn't really do any work (musically) hahaha so he doesn't need to be commented on. Nas... hmm... his RECENT work includes selling out (bad) and Streets Disciple (85% bad)... so he gets a thumbs down for recent efforts (and before you say about how ill nas used to be or tha impact he first made... THATS NOT NOW! Eminem used to be ill, but now i'd rather go out and buy 'Laffy Taffy' than download another Eminem song)... Joeys recent work? 3 Sides To a Story/Dumb Out/Stained/Explain My Life/6 Minutes etc etc and they're mixtape tracks

I am honestly looking forward to Joeys new album more than Dres, and more than Nas'. 'Cos i appreciate good MUSIC - tha whole package, and tho Joeys beats might not be ones you're gonna spaz about and be like OMFG OMFG!, they do there job well, they suit his style and they give him space to do his thing, which he does incredibly well.
Nas' could be sick if they gently pry Salar Remi (or whatever his name is) away from productin and use tha extensive Def Jam roster... Dres will be regurgitated beats swarming with g-unit/eminem...

I can't say which out of Busta/Joey YOU'RE looking forward to.. thats not tha argument. But current Joey > current Busta and i think you're crazy if you think otherwise.. i HAVE tha Big Bang... and i like one song.. all my opinion but it seems common sense to me

sorry for typing so much but i'm bored

joey/saigon & just blaze/lupe/royce & primo/nas on def jam (although he did sell out imo it should still benefit him to have that production/huge company behind them)/detox (we all know it'll be huge commercially) = could be a great year for rap...

I think its been a decent year for HipHop... Fishcale, Murray's Revenge, Monkey Barz, Mouse & The Mask, Welcome To Jamrock (meh..), Piece of Strange, Eastern Philosophy and a few dope mixtapes as well.

Its getting better too, with what Blivvy said.. Budden, Dre, Raekwon, Ghost & Doom Collab, Royce, Nas, Lupe are dead certain to be released, and then theres Saigon and Papoose who should also be coming out this year.
