I don't follow baseball at all, but the Barry Bonds issue has been shoved in my face on every sports channel I visit, so I have had no choice but to hear about it.

Today, Barry Bonds hit home run number 715 to pass Babe Ruth to become 2nd on the all-time home run list. But this has obviously been overshadowed by his steroid accusations.

The problem I have with this is that nothing has ever been proven to show that Barry Bonds actually used steroids. But everyone (even the MLB themselves) has written him off as detrimental to the game and societies cheater. I too was quick to label him as a user at first, but looking at the situtation, there isn't much proof... As far as passing Ruth goes, I congradulate him, but don't exactly want to see him pass Hank, seeing as he is a huge legend in baseball.

So my question to all of you is, do you honestly believe Barry Bonds is or has been a steroid user? Are you happy that he passed Ruth? Do you mind if he passed Hank Aaron?

bonds>ruth

bonds>steroids

end of story.... any man that can withstand the mental and physical abuse from the fans and the sport at age 42(i think?) and still pass ruth is A-O-K in my books

o yeah.. i blaze, i too think hank is a huge legend... but wierd thing is... people who dont even watch base ball think "babe ruth" not "hank aaron" when they hear the word "baseball"... so i think this was even a higher hill for bonds, just my opinion

Yeah there is no doubt that people associate baseball with Babe Ruth a lot more than Hank Aaron, but Bonds makes it seem like passing Hank is the bigger achievement. From what he's said, he makes it seem like he doesn't even want to pass Hank.

"It's a great honor," said Bonds, who watched Aaron hit his 715th home run at age 10. "It's a wonderful honor. Hank Aaron is the home run king and I won't disrespect that ever. ... I have a lot of respect for Babe Ruth and what he's done."
