AZ - Do Or Die

or

Jay-Z - Reasonable Doubt

both albums came out the same year and both are debuts and both rappers represent brooklyn ...

remember it's what do you think is lyrically better not which album is better ...

in my opinion 'AZ - Do Or Die' is lyrically better but 'Jay-Z - Reasonable Doubt' is a better album ...

I prefer RD by far. Lyrically, damn, I don't know... RD is just so much more memorable that I have a hard time putting Do or Die over any aspect of it.

During AZ's career he has definitely proven to be a better lyracist than the late Jay-Z. Jay-Z, in my opinion, fell off tremendously after Reasonable Doubt. But the Jay-Z of 96 versus the AZ of 96 - I think id have to pick Jay-Z. I understand where you guys are coming from with this - just an opinion of mine that's all.

RD over Doe or Die... just because it was such a visual and poignant album... don't get me wrong... AZ is a beast... but RD just puts in that era of rap... makes me remember when I heard that shit in 4th grade and grew to understand as I got older... btw

RD>>>>> Everything roc a fella has ever done after...

Hang Lil Wayne, Paul Wall, Juvenile, Master P, Chamillionare, Young Buck by a noose on their neck. Then I'll give you full respect.

Overall as an album, these two are among my favorites, but RD to me is a little better...HOWEVER, lyrically they both offer something entirely different.

In Doe or Die, AZ uses a very structured rhyme scheme and uses a variety of multi rhymes and has the smoothest flow of the two.
On RD, Jay has a very scattered rhyme scheme and uses lots of wit and charisma to win the listener over

2 of my favorite albums ever...

I agree...

But this is on such a minute level, such a thin line of difference to me.. I'd go barely Jay-Z. Shit like Can I Live, Dead Presidents, Bring It On.. damn. I love Doe or Die, but AZ's just a little raw on the album, it is surely "Uncut Raw", but Jay's lyricism is just as top-notch, his flow is tighter and switches his shit up very well on RD.

Doe or Die is amazing just a half step below Illmatic just some tracks were weak.. but AZ shouldve exploded like Nas, I like Nas' voice better though.

Overall yeah RD has more flair, and is the better album.. but lyrically nah man its AZ all the way
