Fuck party and bullshit, rap about the struggle. And make it so hard and brutaltally honest it makes people not want to rap anymore. That's what I listen to. like Nas, DmX, rock and roll atcually does it too and I'm black!! Even eminem is nice for the soul.

Yeah agreed but do you mean tha struggle to become a mc, and how much does keepin it real come into that.
If I get drunk get hoes and stay tryin ta get paid should I rap about that
or talk about helping tha kids and shit when I aint do that.
I like DMX but for his music tha way it sound, cause seriously you cant kill
53 people per album then talk about thats for tha kids and then pray about it.

Thats what I mean yo people can say exactly what they dont want
ie guns ,bitches ,rims ,ice ,but when it comes to what they do want its only
broad examples like tha struggle, meaningful shit, etc.

i told you, give me young gifted and black:
do something original, bring your own life, talk about whats real with you.
and if guns bitches and crack is whats really real with you, well then youre most likely not worth hearing these days.
but if you work at a shoe store, talk about the shoe store, talk about the women in your life, and not just demean them, talk about your personal struggles, what you go through as you strive to be a better man, talk about what you think society needs to do to fix what you think is wrong with it. talk about what holds people back. talk abotu what you find as dope and what you find as wack.

Nice lil theory you got there but I dont wanna hear about tha daily ordeal of sellin shoes.
Im playing yo.
But seriously from what you said it looks like we need Pac now more than ever.

the shoe thing is on you, but if you think you wanna, then do it, what i want is people to stop making the same records over and over again, thats it. if you do something orginial and try and keep you real, as a person, not some bullshit rapper thug sambo persona that follows scripted ideals and has no actual human worth. i know cats who rap pretty dopely about workin at a valet. and pac right now would be played out, in that 95% of rappers try and bite him so hard theres teeth marks in his skeleton.

Same records over and over again,do you mean like KRS?

meh, i was wondering how long till after i took shots at everyone elses pet rappers someone would shoot at mine.
i dont know how to explain it, cuz i never really viewed every krs album as sounding the same. maybe its just because i could realte to it alot more thna most other stuff. or its because if im gonna be beat over the head with somethiung, beat me with stuff that might better me rather than make me think guns and drugs are what lifes about, but, you may have a good point.
though his newer cds are much different than the old school stuff.

Nah yo I jus meant how many songs can you make about being tha dopest mc and how you keep hip hop alive.
Mostly good joints though.
Im jus wondering when someone will come with some new shit everythings been done ta death.

people do all the time, it just wont blow up. like i said, i know cats making weird ass shit, and its dope, lyrically and beats and concept, but people dont wanna think, they wanna dance, they wanna see black people and hip hop culture as ignorant, materialistic and violent, and when shown anything other than that, or the occasional exception thats not too far off when you sit and think and look (ie kanye west) then you get back to more dance/pop bullshit
oh, and making a million records about being the dopest and the only rapper hwhos making hip hop, well, krs pioneered it, so i guess its his choice to run it into the ground, kinda like ll running the i need love tip into the core of the fucking earth

Anything can blow up if it sounds right look at BTNH came wit something new did it well and it took off.
To often if a rap song got any melody or anything close it automatically classed pop shit.
At tha end of tha day rap is still music.

O.K. I have been living in the burbs for 8 years. Kanye West rhymes about my struggle. The rest I don't listen to for their message because I can't appeal to a lot of thta shit BUT I listen to it for the lyrics and overall song quality. I have no connection with "Street Dreams" but its one of my favorite songs.

I mean when Nas says "Imagine Smoking Weed in the Streets without cops harassin" in "If I ruled the World" I'm like, shit, I do that everyday. I walk around my neghiboorhood and smoke trees a lot. So out in the burb's (Where most of the records are being bought) don't appeal to guys like Nas, DMX, Tupac, and Immortal Technique but they sure as hell do like to thump their systems while blairing about having a ngood time blowing trees even though the rhymes are elementary.

I mean they think that Young Jeezy and Rick Ross are nice because they just listen to the surface. They are more worried about how it sound than what it is.

So basically, it depends who you are and what appeals to people. Wu-Tang does not appeal to anyone these days because their beats are the exact opposite of what's popular and are way too complex for them. If they hear "Hell's Wind Staff" they gonna say, " Dem some lame niggas with their Kung Fu and slow beats. You can't dance or ride out to it."

Most of the guys are real ignorant and don't like the guys who are really speaking for people like them like Kanye, Lupe, and Fort Minor. They think it's "NERD RAP".

Basically, It fucked up in the burbs.
