Rock/trance/celtic..unique combination. Anyone heard of him?

I'll post a couple of his albums later.

the name's pretty popular amongst all the indie scene kds all of a sudden. i haven't listened to his music, though.

How big is the trance element to his music? I can't stand trance.

Yeah, unfortunately he's finally getting some well deserved recognition, but I just wish it was genuine as opposed to a bunch of kids wanting to be cool/scene.

The trance element isn't that big, and only in a few songs. I guess you could compare him to Deth Cab for Cutie, in terms of melody (though less um..girly sounding?) or some of NIN's mellow songs, but the instrumental sound is much different.

sufjan is ace, got michigan the great lake state and Illinoise. The man is a legend...most of the songs feel huge and his voice is superb.

So I was listening to the album you uploaded. I wasn't feeling it much.

I'll be sure to try and give it another couple of listens to see if it's a grower.

Didn't Kat Stevens convert to Islam and grow a beard?

Yep, he goes by the name of Yusuf (sp) Islam. Anywho, Sufjan is an immense songwriter, All good naysayers and John Wayne gacy are my favourite tracks by him at the moment
