View Full Version : Opinion on Royce 5'9 and D12 beef
RedScare 07-21-2003, 12:16 AM Im bored as fuck so here I go. The Royce5'9 / D12 beef. I know this is old but I dont think it was discussed as much as it should be on this section of the messageboard considerin 5'9 took some shots at Em and completely murdered his crew. Just wanna see others some points of views
Oh and I dont want no groupies up in this discussion, cuz I know a few of yall have distorted views of the world in which Eminem is God/Inventer of All hiphop/Crucified 2000 years ago and now hes returned/Best rapper ever/Hiphop will die without him/etc, etc, etc...
Anyways heres my opinion. For the record Im a huge fan of Royce 5'9, D12, and Eminem. Royce is dope as fuck, Eminems dope as fuck, and D12 is dope. Oh and heres the whole story so I dont have to remind yall straight from Royce's mouth: http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/print/t.feature_article/id.210 Well in my opinion, Royce was 100% right in all this since Em completely just distanced himself like that and shit. Hiphop-wise Royce murdered D12 in every possible way. Especially wit Malcolm X. I also think his shots at Em were justified too since Em would rather squash a beef wit Nelly than Royce.
I know its hard for alot of yall to get caught up wit that Pro-Eminem thing when it comes to beef cuz of all this Benzino/Ja Rule shit goin on along the side (both of those Em is definately in the right). But this beef is way different mostly cuz they all actually know each other and were all friends and theres nothin political about it cuz its all personal. Well anyway as far as D12 goes, they the ones that started this thing (mostly Bizarre whos wack as hell). And as much of a fan I am of them, I was suprised how wack they came off in this beef. They put out Smackdown which featured Bizarre and Denaun and it sucked- Bizarre cant rap and Denaun doesnt even write his rhymes. Than you had Proofs Meny Men and that shit was supriseingly wack too especially comin from Proof and everything.
HotSauce 07-28-2003, 10:40 PM lol redscare you can't ask for no groupies because everyone on this forum is a fuckin groupie!!! but neway i hope that royce and em can work out their differences and get back together because they are both tight as hell
The Obscured 01-17-2004, 06:13 PM coulda did without the beef...
<--- not a groupie
dejavu 01-20-2004, 10:29 PM Royce would eat Em...
R-Sin 02-01-2004, 11:45 PM Well it's pretty plain and simple... Royce is straight up killing the boy's track after track, and they absolutly refuse to respond. Why is this???

Its what they do, they never attack anyone they can't take head on so they do the bitch move say they don't want to give them anyt publicity, and when things die down and ether everyone forgets about it or something happens and the opposer can't respond thats when they attack. Look at Canibis there is no way in hell anyone on shady records could take him lyricly wich is why at first Em said he didn't wan't to give him any publicity then once Canibus joined the army and is a few hundred miles and has a big chance of getting killed he goses ahead and dropes CaniBitch. For those who have been to the lyricist lounge in Detroit. The know that the battle between Royce and
Em was just a stand still. I say if something happens to Royce then Em will drop something.
R*O*Y*C*E 02-06-2004, 08:12 AM yeah they wont be friends again i dont think,,
Malcom X was the shit!!
Royce winnin
ghostrider44 03-03-2004, 08:20 PM royce is the greatest
R*O*Y*C*E 03-03-2004, 08:30 PM ^i wouldnt go that far...but he good!!

^^ well if u wanna stay in the rap game, u need 2 have brain.
lyrics, flow n punches r no doubt da primary factors but u gotta make some snake moves 2 stay ahead. eminem is no wonder a street-smart n he is playin his part well n good 2 be undisputed.
well if ya juz run around n scream "i am real i am real i am real" or diss people at the wrong time, ur ass might just get shot n then...........so em n d12 know very well wut they doing.....so dont juz justify matters which u r not sure of!

What the fuck? "Can-i-bitch" was made shortly after "'C' True Hollywood Stories". Canibus heard it in 2001, and although he never actually responded, he acknowledged it in "Bis vs Rip".
Anyway, Eminem was unreasonable, but he is more likely to side with the crew that have stuck with him since his comparative youth, irrespective of whom he may feel to be more justified.
On a random note, Tre Little was wack in Malcolm X, but Royce was great.
RedScare 03-08-2004, 12:36 PM On a random note, Tre Little was wack in Malcolm X, but Royce was great.
No way. Tre Little killed it too.
"The only thing money brings is fake niggas and problems/ followed by, niggas that hate fake niggas and rob 'em" As dope as Royce's verse was, I think thats the best punchline on the track (but Royce's verse overall was better). "Fuck you and your commercial appeal/ I'll turn your head into Blue and Yellow, Purple hills" "I bet you whatever nobody beats my family/ Eminem, Nelly said that he would eat you like candy/ And what did you do? Got on the phone and called him up/ You dont wanna talk to Royce but you would talk to Puff?"
Apollyon 03-08-2004, 06:24 PM Tre Little, the baby gorrilla, I'm just that guy
...Baby gorilla...?
I'm 5'6", got stacked lines, shit that high, I'm ridin'
...Filler...
FUCK you and your commercial appeal
Direct, but not particularly imaginative or scathing.
I turn yo' head into blue 'n yellow +Purple Hills+
That reference was way too artificially used.
I bet you whatever that nobody beats my family
Ugh...
Eminem, Nelly said that he'll eat you like candy
What did you do, got on the phone and called him up
You don't wanna talk to Royce, but you talk to Puff?
Playing on the hypocrisy thing quite well.
You, BITCH, yo' crew some local hoes
*sigh*...
I hit you harder than that white girl that broke your nose
It was actually DeAngelo Bailey, but it's alright as a facetious insult.
You and Royce can squash this with one talk
Step around from your security and talk to that man
What irked me most about this verse is that this part doesn't rhyme. Not to mention that this part directly contradicts one of Royce's lines: Don't call me, I ain't ready to squash it yet, kiss my ASS
I understand you backin' yo' crew, but this my brother
Anythin' that happen to him, somethin' gonna happen to you
Not the greatest threat of all time.
And I don't give a fuck for that, nigga, I'll do life
I advise you to stop; yo' money don't buy you stripes
Alright.
Only thing that money brings is fake niggaz and problems
Followed by niggaz who hate fake niggaz and rob 'em
How is that a punchline? Pretty nice, though.
But you niggaz is WACK; Denaun I'ma stab you
So many times, I'ma feel bad when you collapse!
Sounds good, but actually isn't.
You niggaz is so BITCH you make me sick to my stomach
Every beat that you ever made sound like it was missin' somethin'
Weak...
Timbaland lookin' ass, nigga, my style is realer
What producer you ever know only good for album filler
Most of his verse was bereft of complexity. 1-2 syllable rhyming, personal references that weren't even insulting, lack of humor, and simply calling people bitches, wack or commercial. Bleh.
RedScare 03-10-2004, 12:27 PM Well by that standard, compare Tre's verse to the only direct diss to Royce. That would be Smackdown which was done by Kon Artist and Bizarre (one supposively doesnt write his rhymes and the other is just fuckin horrible). Plus it shows how much D12 is on 50 Cent's dick since its a rip off of the Back Down diss. Tre's verse might not be the most complex rhyme scheme but neither was Royce's on this diss. And that one part actually did rhyme - it was "step around from your security and talk to that man/ i understand....." (talk-to-that-man / i-un-der-stand).
RedScare 03-10-2004, 12:31 PM I understand where you comin from though but your just examinein it to much. No one was breakin down how some parts of Ether didnt rhyme and some of the punchlines were corny (JayZ's big lips, Foxy Brown's puss) because overall the diss was hot. Tell me this isnt a hot punchline: "The only thing that money brings is fake niggas and problems/ followed by niggas that hate fake niggas and rob 'em".
RedScare 03-10-2004, 12:35 PM I know this is three post in a row, but I was just wonderin wheres all of the "EMINEM'S THE GREATEST EVER" groupies now? Hey, Im a huge fan of Eminem, but wheres all of those people that always like to act like they know what they talkin about on this board? And than Royce destroys Em and his crew and his hardcore fanatics are no where to be found?
did tre diss timbaland on that track? i didnt really get that line. and if he did hes a fag, cause timbaland is the shit.

Smackdown was better that Tre's verse, which isn't saying much. At all. And that's not a multi. The only syllables that rhymes are the last ones. 'I' with 'talk', 'un' with 'to' and 'der' with 'that'.

Not a punchline, but relatively sick. I didn't consider "Ether" the best diss of all time either, but it was a great comeback. Yeah, "Malcolm X" does seem to be greater than the sum of it's parts. When I first saw the lyrics, I thought it would be shit. Guess I was wrong.

Destroys Em? Ehhh.... no. Em's better at diss tracks, even when he has a wack beat. Better rhyming scheme, and they're generally funnier.
The only time he beat Em at anything was that collaboration on "Bad Meets Evil". Destroys D-12? Certainly.
Royce Da 5'9 05-16-2004, 12:47 AM Royce is da best.
T-Touch 05-16-2004, 11:46 PM yea i agree royce is nice.... but he ripped eminem???? come on now.... if eminem really thought royce was a threat he would tear him up... Royce killed d12 as a group cuz d12 is shit n the only time there shit is hot is when em writes it... but seriously im not the biggest eminem fan in the world n i kno he would shit on royce

Anybody know where u can get this freestyle battle between Em and Royce, it would be interesting cause i been wondering who would win I do know they both become better since then so it probably doesnt mean much but i want to hear that shit.
JlizzelZ... 05-23-2004, 06:51 PM Em Shuts Up... Cause If He Needs To Spit About Royce... Knowin Him Personally... Helpin Him Gettin In The Game... Gettin Him A Name On Rock City...
I Think Em... Has Enough Material... To Kill... Doo Rag With Diamonds Gangsta Royce
TheInfamous 12-08-2004, 10:16 AM Em and Royce did a collab before right? Damn....they both tight so they need to come to terms and forget this beef nahmsayin?
Dirty Frank 12-08-2004, 06:47 PM Royce won lyrically. No doubt. But that was just against 5 members of D12.
IMO opinion Eminem would rip Royce if he dissed him.
In the street, D12 won. just watch Beef 2, and you will understand.
Nickel 12-15-2004, 08:06 AM Malcolm X dude at jizzel u fuck master
