View Full Version : Why does this happen?
BoneStarr 10-13-2006, 07:29 PM Im having some trouble with my CP, where it turns itself off during the middle of doing stuff on it, I recently moved it to my bedroom after having it in the living room, when it turns off, it trys to reeboot itself but turns off again, and keeps doing the same till it turns off completley and comes back on after about 15-20mins this is really weird and I don't know what's going on...
Please, what can I do?
What's the problem?
Is it a Virus?
It could be the memory. I always have to return my memory back to the manufactures for a new one.
Ike-One 10-13-2006, 09:09 PM Bad powersupply?
Blazе 10-13-2006, 09:17 PM Possibly your processor. I had an issue with mine when I tried to play with its settings. Luckily it has a money back warranty so I shipped it back to the company and they gave me a bigger and better one.
But if you know where your processor is on your computer, pop off the casing and just put your hand on the fan of the processor. If it's flaming hot, like mine still gets (advice, don't fuck with advanced settings if you don't know wtf you're doing) you've probably found your problem.

Encore 10-22-2006, 07:41 PM your computer could be overheating, make sure you don't leave it on for hugely long periods of time.
If it is a virus download (for free) Avast anti virus or AVG, both are available at ww.download.com.
in fact, as I'm feeling kind, I'll get you some links:
AVG Anti Virus (http://www.download.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10596553.html?tag=lst-0-1)
Avast Anti Virus (http://www.download.com/Avast-Home-Edition/3000-2239_4-10533644.html?tag=lst-0-2)
you should also DL these two, if you haven't already got them:
Ad aware (http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_4-10399602.html?tag=lst-0-1)
Spybot (http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10401314.html?tag=lst-0-1)
Good luck man.
Does it say something about you performing ilegal operations or somethings like that before it actually turns off...? If so, and you don't have any programs running at the time, then it's possible that you may have a virus.

Thats exactly what it was man... I Think it had been on for more than a month :shifty:, but I turned it off for a while and its cool now, in the new room its in it gets hot really quick, but its ok now, and yeah ive got those clean up programs...

Ezekiel 10-22-2006, 08:34 PM Lol u left it on for a month? jesus..most i leave mine on for is a day or 2
BoneStarr 10-22-2006, 08:37 PM But when it was in the bigger room, it had been on for longer than a month and Id never had any problems, because my livigroom is air condiotioned and always really cool.
But in my room it gets heated quicker
Ezekiel 10-22-2006, 08:41 PM But it cant be a good thing to leave the pc on for that long..why not turn it off overnight? lol
It's actually better leaving PCs on for long periods because of the metals contracting and expanding. The less the computer heats and cools, the longer the components will last and the more affective they will stay.
My pc is in a cupboard (closed) so I can only leave it on for 12 hours, otherwise it overheats and locks up. :(
BoneStarr 10-23-2006, 07:29 PM ^^^Yeah I was told it was good to leave it on, I was thinking off adding another type of cooling system, the water cooler function, I heard its very effective, but I'll see, cus I heard that if those water pipes break, your screwed...
