I just gotta compaq presario 1260. It has Win98 on it. I formatted the C drive and re installed windows 98, now the D:\ Drive keeps saying System_Save. I can't load CDs. Before reading NOT to delete the D:\ I formatted it anyways and renamed it. Now I dont have the system_save files (which im sure i can just find elsewhere) and the stupid thing wont load up CD's...HELP!!!

Nice job. You deleted an important drive while using an non-updateable windows.

Second, your CDs should boot of of your E:\ drive, not your D:\.

Just download XP from somewhere else! I have the 6 in 1 copy that's going around, and it's worked no troubles for ever :)

Tap/Hold delete when the PC is restarting. Or it could be F2, either way you want to get into the BIOS. In there somewhere, depending on what BIOS it is, it will say "Boot device Priority" or something similar. You will probably need to set it to CDROM being the 1st boot device, then hard drive, then floppy. Then it should Boot the CD so that you can load it onto your hard drive.

I dont think 64mb of Ram is enough for a laptop, or for XP. You may want to consider upgrading... eBay is good for second hand RAM, but don't ever buy new ram on there, as it's expensive and nasty. Try eBuyer for something decent/cheap.

Theres a 9 in 1 DVD Of Windows Home, Pro, and Media Center Floating around, I suggest you get a hold of it.

And 64MB Is good enough to run Windows 95....

Either run Linux and use it as a server, or sell it, cause really you won't get that much out of it.

Yeah I been in and out of the BIOS changing all types of shit. It doesnt boot the CD Rom. I found another compaq laptop in the house though I'm thinking I could possibly get that driver/info transfered to mines????
