first time round after the little windows loading page, with the flag and loading bar (before you log onto a user) it just goes to a black screen.

After resetting it opens up a page with the following options,
Open in safe mode
Safe mode with networking
Safe mode with command prompt
Last good configuration
Start windows normally

So clicking all these different options all of the different safe modes boot up ok but the other 2 bring back the black screen. This happens over and over again so basically i can't get into my computer other than in safe mode (which i'm in now). I have tried a system restore but that didn't change anything.

So anyone ? any ideas ? please

Hmm...the Last good configuration option should have fixed it. What kind of HD did you install?

Actually thinking about it the very first time it did this the last good config did sort it out but it went again like 2 days later. I didn't do it myself i don't know what it is i'm afraid.

So i tried a system restore about as far back as i could. This fixed the problem but created some new ones. I am now on the computer but when i got the new harddrive i couldn't find the stuff to install the drivers for the soundcard, so i bought a new one and installed that. The restore took me back before installing this new sound card, it was all merry until i re installed the drivers for the soundcard, as soon as i did that i had my old problem back again. Althought last good settings did work this time i can't seem to install drivers for my soundcard so i guess that is the base of all my problems.

If you have a windowsXP CD, you could try and use the windows repair function. It will keep all your files, but overwrite the windows files. You will have to reinstall all your programs after this procedure since your registry will be fresh and clean. Here's some more info, http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm#RI .

i had the same problem, re-format the hardrive, making sure you delete everything.. i had to ring company up cuz i tried everything i could possibly think of, if your lucky your computer will have a built in program for re-formatting which is usually triggered off by pushing the f10 constantly at boot up.. if not, then you'll have to re-format another way..

you're registry is fucked... get registry mechanic or something similar. Get the pay programmes, and then get a serial for it. The "free scans" are shit.
