50 Cent and Robert De Niro are in final talks to co-star in a post-Hurricane Katrina police thriller. New Orleans centers on a cop (De Niro) who believes his partner was killed by Katrina but later finds he was shot to death. The cop and his new partner (50 Cent) investigate the murder and discover major police corruption. Production on the film , which was initially titled Microwave Park, is tentatively set to begin filming in New Orleans in February.

my thoughts about this have more to do with why the producers choose 50.

any film about hurricane katrina is going to hit a couple of sensitive topics around politics and social stigmatisation in america.

why then, if the subject matter is going be on the delicate side would one choose 50 Cent to star when he carries his own weight of controversy and polarised popularity.

i don't know. but am assuming there is a reason within.

maybe, despite the international prestige and influence of RW, the producers know 50 is a good bet in the box office.

or maybe, just maybe, he really is a half decent actor after all.
