.ScottishHead 12-05-2006, 05:33 PM ^ you need to get 'Til Shiloh by Buju Banton and More Fire by Capleton, they the realest and rawest danchall out there... like the dancehall versions of Nas or AZ
Is wayne wonder dancehall? I thought he was reggae/RnB
Gold. 12-05-2006, 05:36 PM ^ yea he's dancehall, he uses dancehall riddims... don't know what a riddim is? this pretty much explains it:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riddim
.ScottishHead 12-05-2006, 05:45 PM Cool,I need to check some dancehall out then.
Gold. 12-05-2006, 05:48 PM ^ yea, alot of it is actually pretty lyrical... be warned though, when you start off, you come across ALOT of homophobic lyrics... Beenie Man said he thinks being gay is worse than murdering, and that gays should be lynched  go for shit like Sizzla, Capleton, Buju Banton, Damian Marley, Vybz Kartel... that shit is dope
.ScottishHead 12-05-2006, 06:23 PM ^ yea, alot of it is actually pretty lyrical... be warned though, when you start off, you come across ALOT of homophobic lyrics... Im not gay myself...so I dont care much.Vinnie Paz is homophobic too so Im used to it.But thats a bit far what beenie man said,I guess it might be the culture.

Brofski 12-06-2006, 12:03 PM Damian Marley is class. There's a song called It Was Written that he and Stephen Marley produce... And seriously, it's one of the best produced songs I've heard

EVERY beat on Welcome to Jamrock is amazing... especially Road to Zion (ft. NaS)

Yea someversions of Rastafarianism support anti-gay behaviour. In Kingston (Jamaica), Gays get beaten up, spat at on the streets and are often threatened by gangsters (If you thought Compton was rough, hip hop fans... you should hear about Kingston lol), threatning to kill them.
...AKeliz... 12-06-2006, 02:03 PM Aside from hip hop, I prolly like rock or alternative rock the most....
I loved Nirvana, I really loved Sublime, surprised they werent mentioned....
The rock radio stations here are 1000 times better than the rap ones...
.ScottishHead 12-06-2006, 02:56 PM Indie/alternative rock is probably my favourite music after hip hop but its not close.
...AKeliz... 12-06-2006, 03:03 PM Nothing is close to hip hop with me..........
Brofski 12-06-2006, 03:25 PM Nor me.... Hip Hop's miles ahead
Gold. 12-06-2006, 03:31 PM ^ co-sign. Its so much more interesting and sophisticated than any other genre. For me, second is Drum n Bass...
hctuD 12-06-2006, 09:06 PM True, hip hop is more diverse, interesting and sophisticated, but I dont really discriminate between the different styles of music I listen to. Some suit me better at certain times, others I can listen to whenever, it even varies between different songs. I do listen to a lot more hip hop than I do alternative or dance or any other genre though.

Way too broad with that comment. It depends on what sort of hip-hop you're talking about... BET/MTV rap and sophisticated don't belong in the same sentence.
Brofski 12-07-2006, 07:57 AM I hate it when people say
"How is hip hop skilled? They talk real fast about guns and drugs, and make music on a computer. Any idiot can do that. Can any of them play an instrument? Nooo. that's a skill"
No genre comes lyrically close to hip-hop. And seeing as a lot of them either dropped outa school or done bad in school, it's amazing how they use such clever voocab and wordplay, that some straight A grade students wouldn't use. Fuck the haters!!!

eh.. to me thats pop. But yea... every genre has its weakness

.ScottishHead 12-15-2006, 02:55 PM hey, matter of opinion. I just happen to like it.
I like it too,lol.
Queen are leg-ends.
Gold. 12-15-2006, 02:56 PM ^ fair enough... but can I just ask, how can you? I've always wonered why people like that song, its just so horrendolsy disgustingly awful. It is to me a musical form of hearing a dog barking extremely loudly for 24 hours whilst rolling around in its shit

Dont know, its good when you're drunk, cool tune too,and its quite funny. I like other queen songs better though.

I've never been the biggest Queen fan, but I guess it's because of the lyrics in the track moreso than anything.

I get physicly scared that my brain is going to melt when a Queen song comes on. they are my least favourite music EVER. I prefer classical, I prefer 50 Cent, I prefer Jibbs, I prefer that ketchup song. I hate them so much its unimaginable.

Gold. 12-15-2006, 03:10 PM well I think they're good.
Lol nice rebuttle. Nah I don't care who likes what, just don't play Queen music near me, my number 1 rule lol
Swordsman 12-15-2006, 05:30 PM Besides rap, I enjoy listening to some old-school pop (Mr. Mister, Suzanne Vega, Simon & Garfunkel.. etc). Got love for most of that 70's & 80's classic material. I also play few nu-metal bands (mainly Linkin Park), some country music, soul, techno, rock & heavy.. So, basically I listen to alot of different stuff, guess I have to blame my mom for that.. lol. I've only got rap & some soul and rnb on my PC anyway..

Paul Robinson 12-16-2006, 03:14 PM ^ co-sign. Its so much more interesting and sophisticated than any other genre. For me, second is Drum n Bass...
Agreed. And anyone that thinks that it isn't hard because you don't play an instrument like that in a band has no idea. Think of the ratio of spotty metalers playing their guitars in their rooms to decent fully developed producers who compose all their music....mmm..
saeed28 12-18-2006, 08:21 AM To be honest 90% of my time listening to music is hip hop. However i sometimes listen to classical and 'post rock' bands.
I esp like mogwai a scottish group
