a month ago, my son puked over my laptop.. my insurance wouldn't cover the damage caused as i had shitty insurance plan.. so i had to cough up £100 to order a new keyboard and have it repaired..

now.. yesterday.. he managed to puke over it again despite my laptop being almost the other side of the room, this time he hit the screen.. at first it was a matter of wipe it clean.. but it looks like its damaged my screen as now i have a big black spot slowly gettin bigger, building up in the bottom left hand corner of my screen..

i heard you can fix this by applying a little bit of pressure on the screen in the place of the black spot while it is switched off and then turn it back on and it will reduce in size.. repeat process until its gone..

but i don't wanna risk something that could be false information..

so, anyone know how i can resolve this problem?

if not, i've taken out a better insurance cover so in a worse scenario i can try claim again.. but i'd prefer to get it sorted sooner rather than later

Doesnt the pressure cause the black spots? Cos it's only fluid... right?

I doubt rubbing it will reduce the black spot area. The rubbing technique is meant for brand new screens which haven't been tested properly by the manufacturers. Also I think the rubbing is only meant for the odd black pixel on the screen, not a massive spot. :(

Rub it with a magnet.

Kidding, definitely don't do that.

But as for your laptop safety, install a defense mechanism which makes the keys electric. Your son will approach the laptop and get shocked a few times, that will keep him away from it.
