Have you ever met some stupid person who doesn't understand sampling, they just don't get it? I remember I was talking to a friend once, and he was really pissed off at Eminem for some reason, who knows? Anyway. He was saying, "he's such a wigger, and on top of that, he stole that song by Aerosmith."

He was of course referring to Sing for the Moment. And I said "he didn't steal it, he was just sampling." That just confused the fuck out of him. And I tried to explain to him, and that basically every rapper does it. No luck.

The same thing happened when Gold Digger came out. It was no surprise to me that Kanye had that Ray Charles sample, just your typical Kanye beat. But people in my school were flipping when they heard it, going around trying to act smart telling everybody that Kanye stole a Ray Charles song. hahaha

It just makes me lol because hip hop was founded on samples, looping breaks over and over. I wonder what they think they're hearing when they listen to a beat. Do they think Kanye's got a chick in the studio who can hit a note that high? Do they think 9th Wonder's got some schitzophrenic violinist when he's really just chopping a record to bits? Maybe they just don't take any time to actually listen to a song, I mean really listen to it. That's probably it, and that's just sad.

Lol, whatever

Basically they flip the samples to hotter songs than the originals are. Like Sing for the Moment. I'd much rather listen to that beat than the original song by Aero.

The thing that pisses me off too, is that when you tell them this, ppl just say "oh, just proves that rappers arent musicians" or "rap is just pushing buttons, anyone can do that."

Yea, its so fuckin annoying, and when I try to explain it they're like "thats not possible, its the same song" and they say "thats why people who aren't musical make hip hop beats" and shit like that, they're so naive about anything that they don't listen to
