View Full Version : D4L Member Speakin On Nas
Nickel 11-18-2006, 03:36 PM With Nas' album dropping in roughly a month, the "Is hip-hop dead?" debate isn't likely to go away anytime soon. Recently, SOHH caught up with D4L and asked them to weigh in on God's Son LP title. While most members kept their answers short, D4L front man Fabo provided a, let's say... elaborate answer. "If everybody mind they own damn business then my momma be aight cause...the only reason why I do this sh*t, I don't do it for him. I do it for me and my family and my momma proud of me, not him," Fabo explained. "So if I didn't do hip-hop or whatever he wanna call it or anybody else wanna call it, then he gon take care of me? Cause I'm a grown man. I gotta do what I gotta do to feed my family, so whatever the hell I'm doing, I'm grown. Stay the hell out of mine." Wait, wait. The boy Dot said that Fabo walked away from the SOHH cameras only to come back and add an exclamation point, saying, "I wish a motherfu*ker would!"

Eleven 24 11-18-2006, 04:15 PM whys the south mad at him??...hes not just talkin about the south..is he??..if so then hes a dumb fuck..
Gold. 11-18-2006, 05:38 PM ^ well the south did kill it so....
Plug Zero 11-18-2006, 05:55 PM ^ouch. They did kill what little life the mainstream had left in it. Don't know about the rest though.
Gold. 11-18-2006, 05:57 PM ^ the south killed mainstream hip hop, thats not to say they don't still have dope artists, but at the end of the day it was rappers from the south who killed it, and its undeniable
Eleven 24 11-18-2006, 06:05 PM no they didn't... ^^^ not alone...and if nas is attacking only the south..saying they killed it then he should look closer to home cough50centcoughcough
lmao i love nas..hes one of my favourite rappers of all time...but if he attacks the south only and places full blame on them hes gona get fucked and come out looking like a dumb cunt... the south have a lot of talent
anyway hiphops not dead...
Gold. 11-18-2006, 06:12 PM ^ I've said in countless topics before that I prefer Southern rap to west and midwest, but its still the artists there that killed it. By the time 50 cent started it was already dead, he was just dancing on its grave
Eleven 24 11-18-2006, 06:16 PM how did they kill it exactly???^^^...by bringing a new style???...all of these rappers turned pop are to blame not just the south...only reason people are saying the south killed it is because they took over and westcoast shit was overlooked for ages..as well as some east coast shit
some of the talent in the south is better than most of the mainstream...luda to name one...
Gold. 11-18-2006, 06:17 PM ^ I just said that I prefer the south are you blind or something, they killed it by removing lyrical content, removig good beats and when that became popular, the non hip hop audience had no need for good lyrics so disregarded them
Eleven 24 11-18-2006, 06:20 PM removing good beats?? have you heard some of the shit southern rappers are spittin on compared to the shit you got jay-z spittin on?? ..removed good lyrics???... did you see me mentioning ludacris.. have you heard of scarface???... the south has some of the best mainstream lyricists left...obviously not all of them..but some
Eleven 24 11-18-2006, 06:22 PM i.m.o every coast has its "wack" rappers with no lyrical skill and there "wack" producers with shit beats for nas to blame the south and the south only is ignorant....
there has always been shit rappers, shit beats and shit rap music in general...
fuck it..nas is right in the sense that there is some shit rappers out there giving rap ma bad name...but hes wrong in the sense that its only the south who are doing it
Gold. 11-18-2006, 06:24 PM ^ you seem to be missing my point... I LIKE SOUTHERN HIP HOP, ALOT, but I can still exept that they are mainly responsible for the decline in decent hip hop, and yea of couse I've heard Luda and Scarface, but they aren't the ones who killed it
and Nas didn't say the south were the ones doing it either, btw
Eleven 24 11-18-2006, 06:26 PM you're obviously talking about club rap then???...
if a track was designed with the dancehall in mind, then I don't want to be in the club scratching my head over its lyrical complexity
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ the truth right there...
hiphops devided
lyrical,club/crunk,pop,horrorcore etc etc...its been this way for a long time
i agree the majority of it is shit...
Gold. 11-18-2006, 06:28 PM ^ yes, but crunk is the bad subgenre, at least the rest were still good, even if they were different to each other.
Eleven 24 11-18-2006, 06:30 PM i have no doubt people in the south are killing rap..but so are people in the west, the north, the east everywhere... so to say "the sout are killing rap" is ignorance....if he said "these pop/rap idiots are killing hiphop" then i would understand... but to single out one area...thats pathetic if he wants to say hiphop is dead..then fine..but at least show that theres people from where he lives and other places as well as the south killing it
Eleven 24 11-18-2006, 06:31 PM some crunk is good lol... some of yaboys tracks are made for the club... and hes one of the biggest up and comers in the west
to be honest it comes down to the same thing as everything else....its all opinion
im out for now -pz-
Gold. 11-18-2006, 06:33 PM ^ first of all, Ya boy is Hyphy, not crunk they are different genres. And to your other post I know its not just the south, but they are the majority of the problem and without southern crunk it would probably not be fucked up today

Its all they can make money off of white suburbia. Dance music, not hiphop. Just because you rhyme 6 words per verse dont make you a rapper. They take songs like "Ears hang low" and other old themes, and make it remix's. Problem with NY is the beats suck cock now, they arent made or mixed they way they used too. Its not just hiphop, every genre the mixing is fucked up. Melodys are too low and its just BANG BANG DRUMS. Nas cd will be lyrically amazing, beats will make the replay value very small.

Dude 'VANS' was made a group in THE BAY AREA of Cali, not the south
I understand the trash that floating around in the mainstream, Im not gonna lie too, that lean wit it, and bullshit thats been comin out is str8 garbage, from Ying Yang twins to D4L, str8 garbage, that shit cannot be defended, on a lyric scale, except for the fact that it is club music, for entertainment., dont expect no lyricists, because thats not what these dance movement songs is about....It does serve its purpose for the clubs, if you go to them and thats it, otherwise, there aint alotta shit you can expect from that type of track, but that it is a hype song......And second, all of that shit is controlled by the media....South didnt KILL SHIT, the corperations is more responsible, but at the same time some of these south niggas is falling for it ironically at the same time, so its more the corperations fault than the south........that is something the south haters DONT SEEM TO UNDERSTAND.....
ATL mainly has been responsible for whats been going on with the south, thats it.....Notice how thers some hate for artists from Houston like Mike Jones and Paul Wall, but in ATL, D4L, UNK, Dem Franchize Boyz, Ying Yang Twins, Mr Collipark, Yung Joc, Lil Jon, Lil etc get bashed on.....They do give the south a bad name, there is no lying about that, as more artists emerge from there, the more harder it does get to defend it, but I just hate when ppl think its the same for everyone....Them niggas is ruining it for better artists like T-Rock, Pastor Troy, and Field Mob to gain notice
And the interview the D4L memeber did is just making it look like a disgrace even more, when Nas ISNT even saying the South Killed Hiphop at all, so now first, when it was New York saying hiphop is dead, now a D4L member tryin to get mad at Nas for some shit he never said about the south, which just adds fuel to the fire.....
On the real though, this NY and South beef is pointless, just fuckin make music and stfu
On the real though, this NY and South beef is pointless, just fuckin make music and stfu
THE PRICE IS RIGHT!!!
<:-P
I'll still make fun of these niggas...........but damn, enough with the fuckin finger pointing. The south this....the north that....the bay this....just stfu already!!!!! Bad hip-hop can come from the alaska for all I care.
Be creative and we wouldn't have this problem.
It only takes one nigga from the south to rise up and prove something and everyone will jump on the bandwagon.
KatcH 11-19-2006, 01:47 AM I agree completely w/ X-NINE.
But if it wasn't the south on the radio it and it was the west coast then everybody would say they were killing Hip-Hop. People won't say the east coast because that's where hip hop started even, and if the songs gettin play on the radio were from the East Coast and were wack, it wouldn't matter because people recognize that there are dope artist even if they aren't getting alot of radio play. I guess some ppl know that about the south but choose to ignore even though it applys to the east coast or they don't know the south has good emcees
P.K.O 11-19-2006, 05:56 AM People gon hate on me but ghetto niggaz like myself aint neva mad at Lean wit it middle class cats hate it cause it dont go with what they want hip hop to be but around my way people poor yo they dont care about making a better world they got imidiate problems and seeing brothers having a good time and getting money looks good and gives hope these dudes talking about cats doing it for money if you look at them they already made they money so they alright hip hop aint dead and neva will be!
.ScottishHead 11-19-2006, 09:30 AM =)) Hes a fuckin simpleton.Doesnt know what the fuck hes talkin about.Willie Nelson is more hip hop than Fabo.
