Jazz. Some people might get angry at you for using rock to encompass about a million subgenres. Not me though. Jazz and Soul are my second favourites.

Those are two polar opposite genres. Cool  I wish my taste stretched that far.

You oughta incorporate both genres into your next beat Gold, now that would be ill... or it could also be a complete disaster. lol

Actually jazz is quite often sampled in drum'n'bass (or if not sampled often jazz style), its usually old school dum'n'bass tracks that have jazz sample though. I'm not a good sampler or a good drum and bass producer though lol (I do produce a few tracks though). If you get into drum'n'bass, you'd see that the genres sampled are pretty similar to hip hop. In fact drum'n'bass finds its roots in hip hop, even the Amen break used in Straight outta compton is used in drum'n'bass alot.

none really, it can be anything ... it just depends what i'm in the mood to listen to at the time ...

Exactly, depends on my mood. I love all sorts of music, hip hop, motown, soft rock, hard rock, metal, rock n roll, nu-metal, old school music, funky, country, r&b, classical, (sometimes), dance, drum n bass, trance... love it all.

Voted Rock though, 'cause that's what I mainly listen to, even more then Hip Hop.

Should've made a multi choice poll, I would of ticked country too...

Gold.
02-18-2007, 02:43 PM
^ yea I would have made it multi choice now that you mention it... didn't think of it at the time lol

I voted dnb & Jungle, my second favourite genre. Still, nothing can beat the culture of hiphop, it's more than a music genre. The only culture drum and bass has is sweaty pillheads looking like twats.

Gold.
02-18-2007, 03:00 PM
Drum and Bass also has a big DJ'ing culture, probably bigger than hip hop DJ'ing in my area (I also DJ with drum & bass mainly), really most areas of london, and there are some sick drum & bass beat boxers, Faith SFX is my mates cousin but he's kinda all beatboxing genres really lol

feral
02-18-2007, 03:06 PM
I mean it doesnt have a culture outside of music. I go to a lot of dnb gigs, saw Andy C in bristol on friday. A lot of dnb was birthed in bristol.

Gold.
02-18-2007, 03:29 PM
^ yea sick man Andy C is dope... I see what you mean about nothing outside music, but it still is a big culture all the same

feral
02-18-2007, 05:24 PM
Yeah there's a mecca of a scene here in bristol. You ever heard of the One Nation raves? I think they have them in London, maybe Brixton Academy, cause they hve them in the Bristol Academy. They're usually pretty good, pure mainstream though. Killa Kella was at the last one here.

You into any liguid DnB? Ever heard of Alex Pirez?

Gold.
02-18-2007, 05:27 PM
Nah I'm more kinda into the mainstream (if you could call it that, like Shy FX, Roni Size, Pendulum, Cyantific ect.) and tech step (Calyx, Teebee, Hive ect.)

feral
02-18-2007, 05:29 PM
Yeah they're all dope. That's what i like about dnb, the mainstream is sick, apart from the few cheesy tracks there are out there.

Gold.
02-18-2007, 05:31 PM
^ lol I know its gay when people come along like that... but I kinda like the old scool cheesy shit, that was more like sped up rave back then, with all the cartoon samples and that
