I dont know any white rappers that act black except maybe eminem, school me.
Juice. 01-02-2007, 07:48 PM What? You mean besides the hundreds… shit, thousands of unsigned wiggers walking the streets as we speak? Necro, 3rd Bass, House Of Pain, Bubba Sparxxx, Vanilla Ice, Young Black Teenagers, El P, Aesop Rock, Apathy, Paul Wall, Vinnie Paz, Ill Bill, Awol One, Remedy, to name a few.
And yeah, there are quite a few white rappers that aren’t wiggers; like your main man Edan. Just giving my advice to the dude, keep it up.
feral 01-02-2007, 07:51 PM Edan doesn't really fit into any subculture bracket and thats one of the things i like most about him, besides his amazing skills. The thing i hate about him is subculture of his fanbase.

Acting black is dressing Hip-Hop. Hip-Hop is black music. I didn't create the term, i'm only using it under the assumption that people will understand what i'm implying. I guess it's to difficult for some people to stomach.

I dont see them as wiggers.
Poor white people don't dress like that.
.ScottishHead 01-02-2007, 08:27 PM Poor white people don't dress like that.
How do you know?
So what you are saying is that all white poor people from america dress one certain way?
Juice. 01-02-2007, 08:29 PM I'm saying that poor white people in America get picked on by poor black people in America when they dress like that. This is pretty common knowledge.
.ScottishHead 01-02-2007, 08:33 PM I'm saying that poor white people in America get picked on by poor black people in America when they dress like that. This is pretty common knowledge.
So what you are really saying is that these rappers put on a front and act "black" on purpose,so they choose carefully on what they dress like and what they say,so it will be "black". You're also saying that their lyrical content is the same as a black emcee.
Juice. 01-02-2007, 08:41 PM I doubt that they choose it. They grew up listening to rap music, watching hood movies and never learning to be themselves. I guess they assume people will like them more if they pretend to be something they're not. It only works in reverse.
.ScottishHead 01-02-2007, 08:44 PM I doubt that they choose it. They grew up listening to rap music, watching hood movies and never learning to be themselves. I guess they assume people will like them more if they pretend to be something they're not. It only works in reverse.
Well when I listen to them I dont see them as acting "black",never even crossed my mind.
fbi10 01-02-2007, 09:12 PM So juice, u are saying that it is ok to do black music as long as white ppl dont dress hip hop? What about asians and other races? They cant dress "hip hop"?
bogart 01-02-2007, 09:35 PM I doubt that they choose it. They grew up listening to rap music, watching hood movies and never learning to be themselves. I guess they assume people will like them more if they pretend to be something they're not. It only works in reverse.
How do you know what they grew up on and why they act as they do? I'm truly sick of your ignorant, racists remarks. Everything you say is ridiculous.
First, let me ask you how do act a pigment of color? You cannot act like a color, you can only act a part of a culture. And again, you are stereotyping all Black people if you think they all have the same culture.
I guess that means a Black man in a business suit with a Rolex on is acting White because of what he wears? It's total bullshit. You cannot judge someone just because he is wearing a large coat or saggy pants. Fuck that shit!
Necro, Ill Bill - they're all hardcore emcees. Their style of clothes potrays that. They ain't "actin Black", they are simply dressing on a part of their hardcore image. You could say they're acting "thug", or acting "gangsta", which would be acceptable to an extent, but by no means can you act a color.
I guess that means that Common, Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, Talib Kweli, Black Thought, Pharoahe Monch, Blueprint, & MF Doom all act white because their clothing is not 3 sizes too large and their pants aren't falling off their asses.
Real smart man.
EDIT - Sorry Chanley for hijacking your thread. The music is good, nice flow, even though I can't understand it lol.
Juice. 01-02-2007, 09:53 PM First, let me ask you how do act a pigment of color? You cannot act like a color, you can only act a part of a culture. And again, you are stereotyping all Black people if you think they all have the same culture.
As I said previously; "Acting black is dressing Hip-Hop. Hip-Hop is black music. I didn't create the term, i'm only using it under the assumption that people will understand what i'm implying. I guess it's to difficult for some people to stomach."
I guess that means a Black man in a business suit with a Rolex on is acting White because of what he wears? It's total bullshit. You cannot judge someone just because he is wearing a large coat or saggy pants. Fuck that shit!
A black man in a business suit is acting white? Being successful is not a white stereotype. Have you ever been to Baltimore? 80% of the Doctors, Lawyers, and Politicians over there are black. Acting white... that would be cutting yourself, and bitching about your comparatively good life; and again, the term is not mine, no one is saying that all, or even the majority of black youths wear baggy pants, XXL shirts, etc. It's a popular term which I use under the logical assumption that people will understand my point without being politically correct about it. If you prefer, I could say "Acting Hip-Hop".
Necro and Ill Bill may potray a "Thug" image to you. But they aren't thugs, and never have been. Necro was raised middle class. He's the typical wigger. White gangsters don't dress like they're black. I see Russian drug dealers in Prospect Park every day. They have there own style. Just like the Puerto Ricans, the Blacks, etc do.
.ScottishHead 01-02-2007, 09:57 PM Necro and Ill Bill may potray a "Thug" image to you. But they aren't thugs, and never have been. Necro was raised middle class. He's the typical wigger. Wasnt necro and ill bill's father a Jewish gangster or somethin?
Also because they grew up middle class doesnt mean they arent hard.
Plug Zero 01-02-2007, 10:11 PM i'm only using it under the assumption that people will understand what i'm implying.
This is what people are missing about Juice's argument. When white people "act black", they aren't really acting like a black person because that's impossible seeing how not all black people act the same way. The phrase "acting black" only applies if the white dude is acting how he thinks black people act which is most likely a stereotype. And this is definitely NOT a good thing and is in fact a racist thing.
So there is such a thing as acting black, it's just that when you say it, you assume that people will understand you're speaking strictly within the boundaries of what I've explained in the first paragraph. It's just implied is all.
I hope I got that right.
Plug Zero 01-02-2007, 10:26 PM I mean we could all go around and start saying "stop acting like a black stereotype" instead, but to me that's the same as having to say "mentally handicaped" instead of "retarded" or what have you. Are we really all that sensitive? We're arguing over semantics here.
bogart 01-02-2007, 10:35 PM As I said previously; "Acting black is dressing Hip-Hop. Hip-Hop is black music. I didn't create the term, i'm only using it under the assumption that people will understand what i'm implying. I guess it's to difficult for some people to stomach."
Again, Hip Hop isn't music. And by no means is Hip Hop a "Black" culture, nor is rap "Black" music. For one, Hip Hop was started to unify people. Some of the creators might have been Black, but that does not mean Hip Hop is "Black" at all.
A black man in a business suit is acting white? Being successful is not a white stereotype. Have you ever been to Baltimore? 80% of the Doctors, Lawyers, and Politicians over there are black. If you prefer, I could say "Acting Hip-Hop".
Being sucsessful = White Stereotype
Poor, Oppressed = Black / Minority Stereotype
Your mistaking cutting yourself and being spoiled with wealth.
What's your definition of Thug? What you see as thug is completely different from mine. And are you saying that only a certain group of people can listen to Hip Hop? Middle class people can't, even when many of the emcees themselves are middle class as well? Again, that's complete bullshit.
I cannot fucking stand when you say "wigger". That would be like me, a white male, running up to a Black person and yell "Your a no good Nigger!".
Even if Necro was a middle class male, he could most likely relate to what a lot of emcees say. But to you, relating and liking that would mean he's a wigger. Who the fuck says a white gangster can't wear a hoody? What is he supposed to wear, a business suit? Does it even fucking matter if is content is valid?
Your whole arguement is based off of stereotyping. smh...
bogart 01-02-2007, 10:39 PM I mean we could all go around and start saying "stop acting like a black stereotype" instead, but to me that's the same as having to say "mentally handicaped" instead of "retarded" or what have you. Are we really all that sensitive? We're arguing over semantics here.
It's the stereotype in general that is ridiculous. I guess people will never be able to see past someone's clothes and skin. My point is that if you don't know them, don't comment them. If you do, your just stereotyping that person one what your idea of that person should be like. Stereotyping is just another form of the naiveness of people...
Plug Zero 01-02-2007, 10:55 PM I never like to use the word wigger either, but that's because I know a lot of people misuse the word. I know some people who think anyone who listens to hip hop is a wigger and in that case you'd be dead wrong.
I never bother people when it comes to what they wear or how they conduct themself but seriously, there are some people that when you see them you can't help but think it. The dude with the baby blue Fubu sweatsuit and the fake Tims is just asking to be called a wigger. This is because it's obvious he's just exploiting the culture... or the stereotype rather. If you talk to him he probably wouldn't know shit about hip hop.
To me it's all about subtlety. If you like hip hop, cool, wear a fucking G-Unit shirt, I don't care. Just don't let it conflict with what you're normally comfortable with. The problem arises when you buy the shirt before you've even bought the album cuz then to me it's obvious you're rocking the G-Unit shirt as some sort of quick-fix to make you cool or some bullshit like that.
PAX DECEPTICVS 01-02-2007, 11:11 PM Juice, going by what you say, which I pretty much completely disagree with, would you say that Jim Jones, with his tight shirts, and jeans that are less than a 56 waist with the punk rock chain hanging out is a pseudo white man?
What about Jay Z & Diddy every time they adorn a three piece suite - something white Europeans have been wearing for centuries?

Gold. 01-03-2007, 12:17 PM I think what all you are missing about this wigger argument, is that the whole concept of hip hop, is freedom! Freedom means you can do what you want! Someone rapping in a suit is just as hip hop as someone wearing baggy jeans, cos he is doing what he wants. A white person can wear "hood" clothes and it people shouldn't get worked up about it. Those clothes didn't even exist when hip hop was created, so for Juice. I suppose no one who wears them is hip hop? Juice your ignorance is getting to the point of redicularity

Thank You! At least someone got it.
Again, Hip Hop isn't music. And by no means is Hip Hop a "Black" culture, nor is rap "Black" music. For one, Hip Hop was started to unify people. Some of the creators might have been Black, but that does not mean Hip Hop is "Black" at all.
Please don't defile my culture. When white people listen or dance to rap, they are rejoicing in black music. Rap music cannot be universal because its roots are wholly black, and are underpinned by the black struggle in the western world. Hip-Hop wasn’t started for any specific cause. If you’re talking about the Zulu Nation, it was an organization that united Black and Puerto Ricans in the South Bronx; it was understood from the beginning that the white gangs of the North Bronx were not going to interpose, or were they gonna be invited.
The white people that did fit into Hip-Hop culture from the beginning, were always creative, and never pretending to be something they were not. Iz The Wiz, Tracy 168, Erni, and Freedom; to name a few from the graffiti world.
Being sucsessful = White Stereotype
Poor, Oppressed = Black / Minority Stereotype
First of all and most importantly, we aren’t talking about finances in the first place. We’re talking about social fads in races. Being successful is a white stereotype? I’m gonna have to laugh at that. Like the white teenage potheads skipping class to steal albums? Like the white goth kids that hang in front of libraries everyday, doing nothing with their lives? Go to a hospital in Baltimore. Not only is the health care amazing, but the majority of the Doctors are black. I’m not in a slouch either, there’s no doubt that minorities recieve less opportunities than white people.
What's your definition of Thug? What you see as thug is completely different from mine. And are you saying that only a certain group of people can listen to Hip Hop? Middle class people can't, even when many of the emcees themselves are middle class as well? Again, that's complete bullshit.
I already explained that white people, middle class people, any fucking people can listen, dance to, and create their own rap music. Hip-Hop is about creativity; and if you’re dressing like 50 Cent, you aren’t being true to yourself. I’m amazed that anyone could disagree. My definition of thug? I could give you the antonym: Necro.
I cannot fucking stand when you say "wigger". That would be like me, a white male, running up to a Black person and yell "Your a no good Nigger!"
That comparison is ridiculous. The word ‘Nigger’ has a lot more history to it, is a lot more offensive, and is a much more powerful word. When I call you a wigger, that would be like you calling me a nigger? Are you fucking crazy? How do you see this imaginary similarity? ‘Wigger’ isn’t even a racial slur, it’s a label. And before you say it, I realize that wigger is a play of the word nigger. Don’t bother bringing it up as an argument.
When did I say a white gangster can’t dress like a black gangster? I never said they couldn’t, I said that the existing ones don’t. Relating to rap music doesn’t make him a wigger, but dressing like the image below, yes, it would. I've explained this already numerous times, what's so hard to understand about it?
http://www.wiggaz.com/wiggaz/going.jpg
I never said white people can’t listen to rap. Hip-Hop shouldn’t define who you are as a person. Just because you listen to rap music, doesn’t mean you’re a poor black man. Just because you listen to rap music, doesn’t mean you have to change your entire social paterns to show your alegience to Hip-Hop.
I think what all you are missing about this wigger argument, is that the whole concept of hip hop, is freedom!
I just don’t feel that white people need to conform to “Thug” standards just to feel accepted in a culture, or by black people. Being yourself is what Hip-Hop is all about. I don’t see how the concept of a music can be freedom. My ignorance? I’m about tired of all you crackerjacks calling me ignorant for opposing your views.
This thread has taught me a sufficient lesson. It’s only natural to get defensive when you think somebody is speaking about you, your friends, etc.
ult1matum 01-03-2007, 08:18 PM And yeah, there are quite a few white rappers that aren’t wiggers; like your main man Edan. Just giving my advice to the dude, keep it up.

This thread has taught me a sufficient lesson. It’s only natural to get defensive when you think somebody is speaking about you, your friends, etc.
the thing is is that if they want to, they should be able to without people complaining. If a black person wears clothes that white people usually wear, do white people get angry? Hell no!
