View Full Version : Help A Writer Out!
Irate. 02-16-2007, 03:35 PM So we finally got our forum.. so i think this should be the place to come for help with styles you wanna learn.. or just tips on how to do new things you may be trying to learn..
i.e for ages now i was wondering how to master the art of fades.. (1 colour flowing into another) and Feral Mouse and Kreation gave the following tips
I just Tilt the can farther away from the piece the more I wanna fade out....and vice versa with the secondary color....untill you get the fade how you want it to look.
To Fade I hold the can close where i want the colour to be abundant, then arc my arm so the can gets further away. The do the same thing from the opposite direction with the other colour.
so just drop down what you want to know or what you need tips on and hopefully another member can help you out..
feral 02-16-2007, 03:42 PM Decent Idea. Anyone know any good marker pens (ink) for thin tagging. The art shops round here only do chisel tips and complete phatoons. Just a brand name or something and i'll have a look for it on the web.
Irate. 02-16-2007, 04:02 PM for thin tips.. i'd recommend anything from the OTR series.. or MOLOTOW.. myself i prefer the otr ones as they come in a shitload of sizes..
here's a site i used to use, that will deliver to your door..

feral 02-16-2007, 04:57 PM hmmm its annoying it doesnt show what it writes like. decent sight though. How can it be legal to sell a pen under the title "hard to buff" haha
edit: how many mills is .6"?
Irate. 02-16-2007, 06:24 PM according to my calculations... 15.24003... i think you can get smaller tips elsewhere though.. i used to have a better site for buying graff stuff stored in my bookmarks, but since re-formatting i lost everything..
feral 02-16-2007, 11:08 PM Im after something reaalllly thin, for tagging, maybe just regular marker pen size, but buffer resistant. preferably refillable.
midgetone 02-17-2007, 02:05 AM mops are fun - especially making ink from charcoal... fun stuff.

sakura paint markers
KR3@T10N 02-17-2007, 05:15 AM You could get flat tip streakers for the more flat paint look....there a little bit bolder. If you want a more wet paint look (for windows ex.)....Buy Deco color paint pens and juice them....To juice a deco color: Bite on the back end of the pen, bite down (not all the way through or to hard)...make sure to rotate the pen so that you bite all the way around, this will send more paint to the tip and create a more bolder line, they will drip so dont write to slow. I know alot about boming and getting up w/ streakers and deco's, feel free to ask any more questions.
dunno wether this is what you meant by this, but I just wana learn how to do M's and E's, its annoying cause thats 2/3 of my 'tag' and they always look real crappy. It takes me a few goes each time I wana do a new style or w/e
Irate. 02-19-2007, 03:44 PM ^^i'll post up some letter styles for you asap.. just gotta find them first.. practice with them.. and then adjust it to your own style..
feral 02-19-2007, 03:51 PM To practise a style i just think about how i want it to look in my head, then i pick up one of those highlighter pens the ones with the chisel tips, a piece of a4 and just keep writing and changing each bit until i get it how i want.
Yeah when i first started i used to look at other tags and copy letters more or less, then over time it evolves into something unique.
ok another thing, i always do overlapping letters, and most of the time it goes M over E over Z, whats the best way to do it differently without looking too 'busy'
feral 02-19-2007, 06:04 PM Yeah those letters are pretty bubbly which is pretty easy to overlap.
If you dont want to do bubble style, just sketch it roughly and gradually change bits to make it flow nicely with natural looking overlaps and stuff. I usually take my sketches to look at while im painting.
KR3@T10N 02-21-2007, 08:42 AM I always used to get bummed when I copyd shit...It never comes out the same.....Just keep practicing your own styles, as time goes on....you'll elevate.
Irate. 02-21-2007, 09:02 AM i started off really shit at writing particular letters.. then i found a collection of different letter styles online.. first i'd copy them and as soon as i mastered them.. i'd adapt them to my own style and add extras like a little cartoon or something.. and random shapes.. stripes to make it look original.. the hardest letters i find are M, S, G and Q's.. but depending on the style i use.. they sometimes come easy..
KR3@T10N 02-21-2007, 09:12 AM fuck G's and Q's....lol....M's are cake.
Not Jewish 02-23-2007, 12:26 PM when i do mine i use a papermate eraser.max med pen cuz that way even if i do something wrong i jus rub it out wit a eraser on the other side

big DADDY wAr™ 02-27-2007, 12:57 PM glad i found this...this is my shit right here...
but for the help...the best thing for bombin is mean streaks...performs on vitually everything....or either Griffins black shoe die...comes with a lil nibby thingy though (will take practice) extra juicy always so write fast....and its totally legal to buy at any age.....or either just get you a tester can of paint (the small ones) and a thin cap and you'll be good...specially for practice on can control....
now to letters...i found that if you have a pretty impressive handstyle then your letters become pretty dope but thats not true as of late because i see wack ass handstyles but dope pieces....so just find a handstyle you like and boldin it and add shit get some tracin paper if your not taht good that a way instaed of keep erasin you can can just trace until you get the finished product...and last but not least if all else fails look in old graf mags and turn the pages different ways til you see the letter you want...dont just copy the same letter the right way...turn the page upside down sideways whatever...and believe me they are there.....
hope that helps....

Bomb the system... Graffiti is a Art
Patrick Ewing 03-15-2008, 12:07 AM I have no problem with graff having it's own "section" on this website but if you're looking for advice on graffiti I don't think you should be asking on a hip-hop site you should be asking on a graffiti site.
Australian™ 03-16-2008, 01:27 AM ^ Can't hurt to post it in here

How are my posts "less than intelligent", the way you pst you sound like a 14 year old girl. Just because you write and just happen to rap as well you think that it's all apart of the hip hop culture. No it's not. It's a common misconception that back in the early 80's most of the people starting the whole "hip hop" revolution were minorities, as well as the ones writing graffiti on the trains, which was not true. The whole "5 Elements Of Hip Hop" is not true. The big corporations who were early on the capitilization of the whole urban culture. They just lumped graff into it. Herb. You should probably up yourself on the history.
PS: Nobody cares that you write graffiti, no one's impressed.

CALM DOWN CHILD
Tekstyle 03-25-2008, 02:11 AM LOL for real...and there ARE 4 elements...You need to talk to some bboys to get a real taste of hip hop...they are generally the last ones of the dying culture who still practice all the elements of hip hop...Thats how i learned all this shit in the first place(props to FRESH from the la breakers for schoolin me on the old school and bringing me to the new)so if you want to goto California...find fresh and tell him that he is wrong...be my guest...I'm sorry i offended you...I guess every forum has someone hatin on someone at some point...and if no one cares about graffiti....then stay out of this section of the boards...Other wise you are a hypocrite...
And last time i checked my posts....people were impressed....and those were just sketches. so again....get your facts straight and maybe we can talk....my only problem with you is that you come into the graff section and hate on the people who write...then try to school me on shit. I been doing HIP HOP not rap for 10 years...so please....please don't reply to me ever again because I'm just gonna stay solid as a statue in my bboy stance.
thats my last word...it's not that i don't like you but you are just being a hypocrite.
