View Full Version : what was the last classic hip hop album saeed28 02-24-2007, 03:13 AM In your opinion what was the last classic hip hop album released? Hayzoos 02-24-2007, 03:14 AM Common - "Be" is the first one that comes to mind, i think a few years from now people are gonna look back on that album as a definate classic, more than they will with like say "College Dropout", i already consider "Be" a classic "KingSolomDin" 02-24-2007, 03:20 AM personally,...either The Shining or ,...im sorry!!!!......Kingdom Come. i dig Kingdome come cause of the format and the plan he followed; no skits 14 to the point tracks no features it reminded me of how albums used to be. like The BLack Album Alan Johnson 02-24-2007, 04:32 AM ^ That doesnt make up a classic album, NONE of the tracks on kingdom come were hot at all... Hayzoos 02-24-2007, 04:43 AM In your opinion what was the last classic hip hop album released? ^ That doesnt make up a classic album, NONE of the tracks on kingdom come were hot at all... Alan Johnson 02-24-2007, 04:53 AM "in your opinion" i read it, but how can anyone possibly think that kingdom come was classic... Hypocrit wtf? its the same thing, you act like they are 2 different types of music, the only difference is that the underground isnt in the public eye and isnt signed to a major labelHe also asked for MY opinion, and in MY opinion they are. I dont care that you dont like me... and im not always right... Or actually Ill agree with you... happy? Hayzoos 02-24-2007, 04:58 AM first of all, why are you quoting other threads? were not talkin about that now, were talking about this topic, all you do is shit on everyone's opinions without any logical reasoning of backup of your points, you just make genealized statements and use paul wall and UNK as your every example of the low quality of the mainstream, and for you to say "how can anyone consider ______ a classic?" is a completely idiotic sentence and truely shows your ignorance, especially towards music or any art form Gold. 02-24-2007, 05:00 AM Starr Status Fishscale Seldom Seen Often Heard ^ 3 classic 5/5 albums all from 06 Alan Johnson 02-24-2007, 05:04 AM ^ I liked starr status :) Very good artist, underrated :( first of all, why are you quoting other threads? were not talkin about that now, were talking about this topic, all you do is shit on everyone's opinions without any logical reasoning of backup of your points, you just make genealized statements and use paul wall and UNK as your every example of the low quality of the mainstream, and for you to say "how can anyone consider ______ a classic?" is a completely idiotic sentence and truely shows your ignorance, especially towards music or any art form I dont provide any backup? Where in this thread did i mention paul wall or Unk... Now your quoting OTHER threads... and we're not talking about that now... we're talking about this topic. Those artists are part of the downfall of hip hop in publics view, thats my opinion... Hayzoos 02-24-2007, 03:29 PM Can I just say, you may think Tehgame is a jerk, but he's got every right to disagree with other people's opinions. It's his opinion afterall. That's how interesting discussions get started. The last classic was Be -- short, sweet, hot beats, no fucking skits. no, he doesnt just discuss it, he just bascially tells people they are idiots for thinking that way, he cant even back up his points Alan Johnson 02-24-2007, 05:11 PM ^ What are you talking about, i have never told people thier idiots, and if i did, it was a LONG time ago... Shadowboxin' 02-25-2007, 11:49 AM Too bad, your the only one who thinks that. Others think I contribute. If "everyone" thinks im a dickhead, how come the ONLY people that neg rep me are YOU and Gage, and Brof They're not the only ones. Scrilla 02-25-2007, 01:56 PM The last 4 classic albums (in order) in my opinion are.. 1. College Dropout 2. Be 3. Food & Liquor 4. Late Registration Food & Liqour is the most recent, but I consider College Dropout and Be to be better. I actually put them on another level than the other two, so I guess Be was the most recent one. Alan Johnson 02-25-2007, 02:04 PM They're not the only ones. Oh im sorry, and your random ass nobody... You dont even know me... you aint been here long enough. thegiftofgab1 02-25-2007, 02:08 PM Sean Price - Jesus Price Superstar...5/5 album i was really impressed IMO better than monkey barz Scrilla 02-25-2007, 02:08 PM Oh im sorry, and your random ass nobody... Scrilla 02-25-2007, 02:19 PM You don't need to contact someone in order to know they are stupid, you can just tell. Alan Johnson 02-25-2007, 02:21 PM So you walk down the street in san jose, or wherever you live, and can point out stupidity? Scrilla 02-25-2007, 02:23 PM Sometimes, but you can't always tell. Reading a public forum on the other hand and seeing countless posts from other people makes it easier to point out the stupid ones. Alan Johnson 02-25-2007, 02:31 PM ok if you wanna argue, go make a thread in general discussion... but threads always get ruined cause shit goes down. end it, take it to PM for whatever more... Anymore more thread-ruining gayness and i'll start infracting and deleting posts. Right, get the thread back on track Alan Johnson 02-25-2007, 07:26 PM Most people would rather not waste their time... Then why waste thier time doing here either... Anyway back on topic: Commons album was classic mynameis 02-26-2007, 05:12 AM ^ That doesnt make up a classic album, NONE of the tracks on kingdom come were hot at all... cmon man...kingdome come was a hot album...way better than hip hop is dead (ok album) nas is better than jay-z but this year goes to jay. umm lets c albums i liked last year were release therapy and kingdome come but last real classic album...probally GRODT (ya ya i no everybody h8s 50 but its my oppinion and u cant change that) mynameis 02-26-2007, 05:16 AM no, he doesnt just discuss it, he just bascially tells people they are idiots for thinking that way, he cant even back up his points ok...ive looked through alot of these threads...and u seem to do the same thing especially to him and rayallen0 Alan Johnson 02-26-2007, 05:22 AM i dont have a problem with rayalleno, kinda got annoyint but yeah... Better then HHID in what way? Your opinion?? mynameis 02-26-2007, 05:29 AM ^ray used to have good points before he started spaming all the news story and i just like the sound of kingdome come better...and i think HHID is great but i the thing i had a problem with was the songs nas picked to make singles of...jay-z made better choices IMO. and nas wasnt as lyrical as he used to be...and main reason i like jay-zs better is just that it was like his official return to the rap game and it was nice to hear him again MurderousManiac 02-26-2007, 08:59 AM i would have to say. that i havent heard many new albums. i dont know why. But one i think is classic is Lupe Fiasco's. I dont know i just like that cat for some reason especially Daydreaming Tom.B 02-26-2007, 09:54 AM Hip Hop is Dead....if its not classic now, it will be over time. Hayzoos 02-26-2007, 06:41 PM honestly, i couldnt find one song on Kingdom Come that really liked, and that usually never happens to me with Jay-Z albums, so i have to say it was one of his weaker attempts, although its not complete shit like people have said Hayzoos 02-26-2007, 06:42 PM what about "Minstrel Show"? that was a pretty class album allhiphop.com even gave it 5/5 which they never do Conz 02-26-2007, 06:47 PM what about "Minstrel Show"? that was a pretty class album allhiphop.com even gave it 5/5 which they never do Minstrel Show was dope but I would give it maybe 4/5 There was 3 or 4 songs I didn't like TonySt4rk 02-26-2007, 08:35 PM Watch when one of the best rappers right now with one of the best producers right now drops a debut album this year. Forgot all about the Percee P debut. Alan Johnson 02-26-2007, 09:10 PM cant wait for saigon to drop his album Hayzoos 02-26-2007, 09:14 PM i cant wait for Nagasaki to drop The Bomb Ender 02-27-2007, 01:50 AM Im sure its an unpopular chioce.. but HHID... and Hell hath no fury Alan Johnson 02-27-2007, 02:17 AM Yeah i agree with HHID Ghost Deini 02-27-2007, 02:19 AM HHID Fishscale Game Theory As for 2007, I'm liking SP's: Jesus Price Supastar |
