Thought I'd grace you with my final drawing from my Basic Drawing class. I believe it to be my best effort from said class, and this particular project allowed for abstraction and likeness to be bridged.

Materials used were vine charcoal, compressed charcoal, conté crayon, a vinyl eraser, a gum eraser, a kneaded eraser, and a chamois.

And here it is. (http://img122.imageshack.us/img122/6655/p5020020io0.jpg)

The quiality of the photo's not very good. I keep looking at the yellow on your shoe =/

But the Picture itself isn't too shabby aye. It's completely random, which owns.

I'm not too keen on the guys hair though. It doesn't seem to blend well with the overall finished product.

You're a bloody good artist!

Aye, it'd be best if I took these pictures in another room during a different time of day. It's a pretty dark piece, and the flash just lightened it up, which messes with the picture's effect some.

Looking back, it's have probably been best if I didn't used the conté crayon so liberally for the hair. The compressed charcoal would blend in with the vine charcoal more effectively.

Cheers dude, and dudette.

Great texture and depth. I think all you really need to work on is bringing out the details, and (quite simply) your style overall. I know how difficult working with charcoal can be. This turned out nicely.

Good job.

Again, thanks a lot. Surprisingly, I find charcoal much easier to use, as in to attain desired textures and tones, than pencil. I also took your advice from another piece of critique you gave, and outlined using a slender contour, which also helped balance the tones out a little.

Maybe it's because I'm used to using a pencil, but I've always found charcoal more difficult to work with- especially since it's much harder to get the smaller details in. I love looking at the outcome of other peoples' works though.

I'm glad you found my other reply useful. The thinner outline almost makes it look like it's glowing.
