I've heard some people hype him up but yet to fiund one song i like from him. Neither lyrically or even from a catchy point of view, eg i don't like 50 but could appreciate why people were all over him when he dropped songs like in da club. Lil Wayne doesn't have great lyrical skills from what ive heard and neither does he have any dope catchy banger.

So whats the deal?

Any songs to change my mind?

Close this thread before we go down this road again. Actually, why don't they just make a "sticky" thread about Lil Wayne or update the "Rappers Forums" and add Lil Wayne to it. We waste more time talking about him than anyone else.

I mean I appreciate what he is doing for mainstream music all the people that like that bullshit atleast are on lil wanye nutz cuz he is using more lyrical skill then Young Jeezy Joc T.I. and what not..so I feel him more as a mainstream artist but will never be my favorite it's jus a realize 2 see him actually trying and being expiremental that song Shooter...other mainstream catz wouldn't put their balls on the line like that..

If you don't mind the typical subject matter. Listen to "Money on My Mind". Lil' Wayne is the current mainstream king of wordplay. I honestly don't mind having people like Lil' Wayne in the mainstream, as opposed to people like 50 Cent, who have no redeeming features. Lil' Wayne is encouraging the future generations to use punchlines.

But aside from wordplay, he doesn't have much.

To the threadstarter dont bring up Wayne on THIS site at all, folks will do nothin but shit on him.......

I cant front his lyrical skill did step the fuck up even tho he mainly uses wordplay to carry his tracks......he's got some creative shit

Some of wayne's wordplay is good but Ive heard him spit this:

"I'm on like the television"

Wayne is a decent rapper ... he has good wordplay but also has some very bad ...

he should change up his subject matter more often like he did on 'Georgia (Bush)'

i like his cadence on the mic ... thats one of his better qualities ...

also Wayne has mastered the art of sayin absolutely nothing on a track ... he can say absolute random bullshit and can get away with it with people going off sayin what he spit was nice ...

I think Canibus has done that as well, lmao....but I hear that....

Agreed on the subject matta part, if he stepped it up like that and not just use wordplay trak for track, THEN he'd be on his shit.....cuz thats proly he needs rite now, some mo' subjects aside from the mixtape rappa shit I hear him rappin.....

He's a homo, he kisses another man on the lips and calls him 'Daddy', and this man 'isn't' his dad. That's whats up with Lil Wayne.. His dicks up Daddys ass and can't get it out.

"I aint upset but I'll blind you if I smile at you,
You rockin wit young Chris and the best rapper"

This just proves what's wrong with him.. He wears grills, did a song with Chris Brown, and thinks he is the best rapper..

Enough for you..

You on some bullshit.....Thats like saying any rapper rocking a lot of jewelry is materialistic.....No one's image reflects or has ANYTHING to do with skill, thats a fact.....the threads about dukes lyrics yet you using appearance to dissmiss him as a wack rapper rather than you saying his lyrics are wack (in yo opinion)

Lol didn't know people on hear would defend grills so badly. My point wasn't that Lil Wayne is a wack rapper because he wears grills.. imo grills are just shiny braces which are fucking ugly. It had nothing to do with his or any other rappers skill. I just don't like the 'Grill look'.

Yeh i know Nas had them in 'Thiefs Theme' and Wu-Tang members wore them, but not everywhere they went or in nearly every video clip..

Also i have no problem with any other jewelry, thats like me saying you must not like any rap because you don't like this rapper.

Plus me saying 'Everything' is wrong with Grills in an earlier post was sarcasm, i guess not everyone can tell because it's the internet.

I think waynes dope... his humor and attitude carry him over the track.... while swagger is a shit excuse that shit is still semi dope how he says random shit like he's carrying on a million dollar convesation... I gotta bump a niggas music if he can snort a line, smoke a blunt, pop a pill and proceed to basically be geeked up his entire project... tho he does say shit...

He's not wack. The Drought 3 is the best mixtape I've heard since Pre-Release Therapy.

From hiphopdx.com

Lil' Wayne obviously thinks he is the best. Kanye West doesn't argue. The two have recently linked up to record tracks that they feel are "incredible." Now, with both careers on an upward climb, the two have hooked up once again for more tracks. Recently Ye spoke on this.

"I'm making beats. The dude is the hottest rapper...We already made some songs that are incredible. I'm not going to tell you who's on them, but I can talk my sh--, 'cause we already got a couple of bangers under the belt. Hopefully I can deliver some product with him to push it to MTV even more, where hopefully he'll be opening up some award shows and getting his rightful spot. Right now he's ripping down every mixtape, going crazy with it. It's unabashed, raw lyrics. I think it's the realest form of hip-hop right now," he told MTV.

He also added that he has recently revisited old Wayne joints for inspiration.

"I went back and listened to this Juvenile album 400 Degreez, and [Wayne] was snappin'...Lyrically not letting up. I liked his intonation, his patterns, his punch lines, his whole story. That's what got me interested. It's music. It's product before publicity. I need to get off the mic right now and go to the studio."

In related news, Devo Springsteen spoke on the current label situation with G.O.O.D. Music. For the record, it's still alive.

"I don't know the ins and outs, legally, what is what, but I know I just got back from L.A. and I was in the studio with Kanye, Common and Sa-Ra, and I know I'm going to Japan on tour with Consequence at the end of the month...So it's still there and it still exists and everyone is still putting out records. GLC's album is gonna have a G.O.O.D. Music logo. I'm in talks to put out a G.O.O.D. Music major-label album. It's definitely still there. ... There's not a central distribution place [at the moment], but the movement is still there."

Arguably one of the best mainstream artists thinks Wayne is the best. Hmmm...

Kanye is also a dickrider... now I must say that while swagger has nothing to do with skills I carried mainstream darling Jay Z for a few years until blueprint... never said wayne was the best... but still I see that potential in him to make a classic LP... if he can just vary his subject matter and improve content on his records... we need more Hustler Muzik's and The Mobb's and less I'ma D Boy and Fireman

Take what Kanye or any rapper says about another, with a grain of salt.

Talib is goood friends with 50 cent, and both look up to each others music... By no means does that mean 50's music is any better.

Alot of what goes on between 2 rappers in the mixtape world or album world is strictly business... Kanye and Wayne are BOTH OUT TO get money. SO by kanye saying go buy waynes shit, that means kanye makes money too. and vice versa and what not...

:smh: at kanye, goes from making a track with 3 legends to saying wayne is the best
