To me It Was Written is a way better album than Illmatic. Illmatic, is the underground hip hop head's dream come true. Gritty, old school, and straight lyrics. But It Was Written has some of the same elements, but also with a newer sound, and different topics on songs. It Was Written and Illmatic are both classic, I prefer It Was Written though.

it was certian elements of IWW thats was better than illmatic for me. Like it ha sto be NAs at his best lyrically, and his delivery was stupid. All theose LP you named, RD, Iron mad, OB4CL, like they classics, but there not one song on any of those albums thats better than Take it in Blood, or Black Girl Lost,

Nas didn't put that work into IWW like he did Illmatic... and Trackmasters are a HUGE step down from Illmatics production... and don't argue for that one Dre beat and that Premo beat... and the Message had a hot beat... if having expensive production that really ain't bout shit and a classic under your belt automaticlly gets you classic ratings then....

First, there is no question that "It Was Written" is a "classic" album. What determines if an album is classic or not? I'd say status quo - so take a poll and you'll see the majority of avid Hip-Hop listeners would agree.

Comparing Nas' lyrics on ANY of his albums to Prodigy is just ridiculous to me, there is no contest here. Prodigy lyrics are one dimensional - mostly all self-glorification. Nas shines over P on any and all perspectives of Rap music, from story telling to parallelisms to analogies shit even in battling. "Drop a Gem on 'Em" was cool cause I hate 2pac but let's be serious, those lyrics are sub-par - I felt them cause P just throws a lot of heart. IMO even Havoc outshines P on the "Hell on Earth" album as a whole.

Lastly, yea you are right about Havoc's production on Hell on Earth... his beats are ridiculous... that's about the only thing I agree with you on this topic though.
