Drop an album better than Illmatic... Illmatic is just the greatest shit ever... I mean damn nothing else worth talking about in the history rap but Illmatic... Nas is Christ... Nas should recieve a personal ball washer for contributing Illmatic...

no really... how about we try a different type of album discussion... bring up any album, the person after you describes it and then puts up a new LP for discussion... 1st CD...

Muddy Waters is in my top 10 albums of all time.
From start to finish, best funky production and Redman is at his best lyrically.

Vinnie Paz reaching his peak as an MC and Stoupe with phenomenal production... easily one of the best underground projects in the last decade

Also another album in my top 10, my favourite Outkast album, the album that got me listenin to their music.

Production is dope from ON and Andre and Big Boi at the top of their game.

Great guest spots are great and "Aquemini" has one of the best Andre verses.

Inspectah Deck - Uncontrolled Substance

i agree with the Violent By Design idea.

also i think that Masters of the Universe is better. the two are similar, given that both albums are focusing on giving a message to "the people" as a whole as opposed to speaking to the listener, like kool g rap for example.

in a way Masters of the Universe is an illmatic for the new millenium. it contains many of the social commentary and criticism, and takes NaS's visionary statements to a new level, but spares the ghetto glorification that illmatic relies so heavily on.

by 2000, the ghetto lifestyle had been played out and everyone knew that it would really suck to live there, so Masters of the Universe is better in my eyes because of its more mature audience, the people who grew up with illmatic and continued to listen to hip hop to this day.

Mic Club is my 3rd favorite Canibus album but I still consider it classic, so many great songs like Poet Laureate, C Section, I'll Buss Em You Punish 'Em, another lyrical masterpiece from Canibus

As big of an El-P fan that I am, i've yet to listen to this album all the way through. I feel like an idiot saying so, but it's just one of those that I haven't gotten around to.

on the Nas comment... be honest with yourself... do you REALLY think it's the greatest Hip-Hop album ever? There's plenty of better artists. I'm sorry to offend anyone, just my opinion...
