I know that most of you think highly of him as a rapper but he rarely makes anyones top 10 list whether it's about favorite rappers or albums, best catalogs etc...

i mean, his catalog is one of the best ever IMO, some heads even rate his worst album as his best so that also proves he never released a whack album...

with all this said, why is he not as popular/appealing as some other artists???

I agree with you that Common has a very nice catalog, but the reason he's not in my top is because hes kinda boring all his music sounds the same with the exception of "Electric Circus"

that's exactly where i'm aiming at... artists like biggie or pun both released only 2 albums and they are always in GOAT discussions... i'm not taking anything away from them, they deserve it, but common is definitely on the same level

Common is quality but none of his albums are in my top 10 and he isn't in my top 10 rappers either. As someone said earlier, most of his things sounds the same to me. Doesn't have great variety.

Common is dope and an underrated artists on the rap scene I agree, but I do not feel he is underrated on this board as he often be getting props from members.
