View Full Version : Murs in the studio with Nitti...
bogart 06-16-2007, 12:26 AM I just checked the new Scratch magazine (ehhh) and in the middle strip was a segment about who is working with who (producers and emcees). And who do I find at the bottom??
Nitti & MURS!
What a combination. I have to say I can't stand Nitti one bit, but I am very excited to see what Murs is going to do over something like this. First Snoop and now this...Murs is just shitting on the industry, god!
I can't wait to hear Murs' new shit. From El-P to Nitti...wow...only Murs. This man is literally taking both the Underground and Mainstream while tricking Industry cats in consciousness (lmao).
Check out the magazine if you want to see it for yourself (though recently since XXL has put their hand in it it's been sucky).

but a producer can be more versatile than an emcee so lets see what happens instead of making pre judgements... who knows Nitti might be an underground head, making snap shit to get bread... unlike a rapper you can't exactly know what a producer is capable of until he does it...
Joe Motiki 06-16-2007, 11:48 AM Thanks!

No...no he's not...at all. You could say the exact same thing about an emcee, you don't know what he or she is capable of until they do it. Check out this is if you don't believe me you don't know who Nitti is:

"Nitty (born Frank Ross on December 23, 1977) is a Pop Rap artist from The Bronx who started his debut album in 2004."
Oh with all the talented producers out there he chooses him, sounds great...

????
It's not like he's making a whole album with him. MURS is mainstream now. He has to have a mainstream song or two.

See that's the very problem, you should not compromise your music/art because you go mainstream, and stop your creativity,
that's the art of selling out, not hip hop. Why should he make songs to please the mainstream "fans" he doesn't even have yet?
Instead he should be doing what he wants to do, make good music, and not compromise his music while at the same time pleasing
the fans he does have. There is plenty of talented producers out there who would gladly work with an MC like MURS.

Because he does one song with a beat from Nitti, doesn't mean he's selling out. If he came out with a Lil' Jon beat and had Ying Yang Twins yellin' on the hook, I'd consider him selling out. Even that is a stretch, since it's one song. B/c he does a song with a beat from Nitti doesn't mean he isn't going to be creative with it. Whether you or anyone likes it or not, you have a responsibility when signed to a major label. You have to appeal to the audience, one way or another. There's various ways to appeal, and usually it's only one route taken. However, MURS is an MC that'll take a positive route, by spitting over a beat like Nitti's and still keeping it MURS.
