freestyle / freestyle battle tips?

I need some tips on keeping a freestyle/freestlye battle flowing. I can think of the first few things I'm gonna say in my head but after that I just blank out and don't know what to say next. Other then practice, what else helps.

TIps


-write a lot, the more you write the better you will be off

-this may be an anomaly but practise memorization, that will keep the mind real sharp and develop your brain in parts that would be beneficial to possessing the ability to freestyle

-learn how to rhyme, it may sound easy but 95% of cats cant do it and that includes the industry, learn syllables connotation and umlaut, how vowels bend and how you can make em sound certain ways so stuff rhymes, play rhyming games with whoever, just rhyme one word, have him rhyme it, then you rhyme it, then he rhyme it till you cant rhyme it no more and then go on to a new word, and pick 2 syllable words or more preferably, anyone can rhyme cat, bat, rat, gat.............just rhyme words constantly in your head and just get down patterns in your head, develop that shit

-have a cache of lines you can pick out at any given moment, so when your stuck you can put em in, and it doesnt have to be lines per se, it can be a concept, like you might have thought of a wordplay, coolio, now there is several ways I bet you can say the exact same thing but just have different wording a bit, thus you can adjust the wordplay to any given rhyme scheme, also have transitionary phrases, like 'you cant really fuck with this', say that whenever you get stuck, and that will give you that one second to think of the following line

Sometimes you just need something to get you going....for instance, get around a group of battlers and get involved, and you'll notice your skill its 105% better than some kid off the street asking you to "kick a freestyle"

for ma homie pepin, some advice i can give has already been said above. but for battles, a good thing to do is check out everything on your opponent/enemy for the time being-look at their signature or their name, pictures, whatever, and then break that down ta lyrics. i mostly freestyle all ma battles and shit, i notice alot of people on here take time and write it first.

for ma homie kanaka, try ta turn your flows into bars instead of a paragraph, especially if you don't use alot of multi's or wordplay, otherwise it's like reading a story. if you write it like a paragraph, then make sure the context is thick. every other sentence has to relate, hit a point, or have a slick ending.

^I noticed this b4. If I listen to my friends battling b4 its my turn, it is a lot easier usually.

[i][b]yea i feel you, i use ta ask around about how ta freestyle myself, im 14 now but I have to say im damn good lol, not to brag or nothin. anyway what helps me is to tape yourself freestylin. and write down tha words u struggle to rhyme wit or rhyme wit tha most. then list thangs that rhyme with it. also write random hooks and try to memorize them off certain beats.
