The Official Blueprint for bringing Lyrics back

(Feel free to post your own blueprints)

Forget getting the North back or throwing down the south. All that matters is getting lyrics back into the game.

Its gonna have to start kinda slow.

1."Touch It" was the first step. That was the hottest song of '06 so far. The Remix was even hotter. That had some good lyrics on it even though it was a club song. Thats the only way that they are gonna come back. The kinda sound we are looking for is like"Touch It" for the clubs. So the "Big Bang" could be a difinitive album ijn bringing it back though it doesn't look good with "My Chick", a very popular song but is not lyricall in any sort. Only hope that the album is more along the lines of "Touch It".

2.To get the streets back into it we are gonna Wu-Tang to do it. "Fishscale" was alright, a 7/10 at best. Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 is gonna be the big one. That will get the streets goin. Busta, Dre, GZA, INS, RZA, Rae. There is no way in hell that can be a flop. 4 Club/Ridin songs from Dre is all that album needs to get a lot of air play. The rest should be all Wu-Tang gangsta stuff, not the real complex stuff but some Incarcerated scarfaces shit. Then a couple "Wu-Bangas" up there to keep it Wu.

3. Lupe Fiasco, will get the backpackers and the "Kanye" audience but that might be pushing it. I think he is great and is one of the bets today but the people who are buying most of the popular stuff (13-23) might not feel him. OR they might lighten up and actually embrace the next H.O.V.

4. But, all this doesn't have a shot unless G-Unit falls. G-Unit has all of the ROC fall offs and some of the most respected N.Y rappers and turned them into trash. Some how, we must take down G-Unit. Don't kill 50 cent because that will make him even more popular. Don't know how we are gonna do that. See if Game will succeed on his suicide mission. He single handedly takes down G-Unit and his own career, thats a huge step and is very unlilkley to happen.

5. The radio is the hand that feeds the mouth in this. We need Sirius and XM radio to really back it and not be bought out like the local stations are. They are a big step. Take out the hand and they have know supply. Then rebuiuld the hand and force feed the lyrics to 'em.

6. Now, for the beast. The South. Hip-Hop has always been more for the streets then the clubs so, we take the Club south (Lil Jon, Young Bloodz, D4L, DFB) and destroy them with a southern/Northern street mix. Since, Jeezy, Nas, and H.O.V are all on the same label. They need to do a street anthem. Jeezy isn't that nice of a lyricist but he is real and a very hot artist. Nas, H.O.V, Jeezy with a Mobb Deep kinda feel to it.

T.I should be used too, he has a very raw street feel and is on top of Hip-Hop right now. He should do a street anthem as well with someone with respect and is a lyricist. AT time T.I can be pretty decent.

Thsi could take a year or two with albums being hot and flopping.

Thats the Blueprint to bring it back. Its starting this coming Tuesday, are you ready for it!

Re: The Official Blueprint for bringing Lyrics back

I think it would be very difficult to bring lyrics back.

Hip-Hop became famous in main stream America through a series of catchy hooks, catchy waltz, usually combined with wack-ass meaningless lyrics. (Thanks Jay-Z for opening the door). Now any wanna-be poet can create a masterpiece and earn a fortune regardless of talent.

In order for lyrics to come back, the consumer would have to go out and support lyricist's albums. So go out and buy Talib Kweli, Vakill, Nas, Rass Kass, etc and stop downloading the shit!

Re: The Official Blueprint for bringing Lyrics back

it all sounds good, but can it happen? g unit, despite their destruction of talent with commercialisation they are gonna be hard to topple, if 50 were to get killed, the mindless public who dont know shit about hip hop would crown him as the new pac and that would be sacreligious, i dont see lyrics being accepted by the public as important cause all they want is a beat they can dance to in a club and theyre getting that right now from lil jon and scott storch, shit isnt gon change for a while yet
